Hotels in Paris

My husband and I are taking our 19 year old to France, our first 5 nights will be spent in Paris. I have booked two rooms at the Hotel San Regis. Any other suggestion, not too stuffy, but special for her. Thanks for any advice.

suggestions about another hotel? another city to see? Places to eat?

kntrotter Dec 12th, 2005 05:48 AM

I really was not specific enough. I want advice about any other hotels one might think would be more appropriate. We are not going until May and so have plenty of time to rebook. I also did not mention that the 19 year old is our grandaughter. Any restaurant info would be greatly appreciated. thanks

That hotel has some very impressive reviews:

If you're looking for a different hotel, I would assume your budget is the same...around $400.US per night per room?

Since we're taking her we would be willing to spend more for the right place.

What do you mean by 'special', 'appropriate', and 'the right place'? To me, the St. Regis is a very nice hotel. It's not clear (to me at least) as to what type of hotel you really want to book.

The "not too stuffy" comment makes me think the OP wants a nice (comfortable) hotel that will not feel intimidating (too formal) to the grand-daughter.

It appears to be a beautiful hotel. Your experience should be quite lovely.

As to restaurants...mmmmm... so much, so many. If you're down to the Louvre one day, lunch at Le Fumoir .. if you were my guest in Paris, I'd take people there!

I think a great experience would be either resaurant in the Eiffel Tower...

What a wonderful gift!

Travel nut You expressed exactly what I was trying to say. Thank you

Hi Kn,

When I was 19, I couldn't conceive of staying at the St. Regis.

Assuming that she has been properly brought up, it should not be difficult for her to enjoy a stay there.

As for restaurants, what's your budget?

((I))

Hi ira,
Why couldn't you conceive of staying at the saint regis? She's traveled with us before so I have no worries about her behavior. Again, as far as restaurants, good food, not touristy, and no attitude. I study French and she has taken French in high school and in college (She is finishing her second year) and we both would like to use our French and not be intimidated.

ha ha, ira said he couldn't conceive of staying at the Regis when he was 19... not that your granddaughter couldn't... :)

Travelnut Dec 12th, 2005 09:26 AM

kntrotter, did you read thru the reviews on Tripadvisor? Comments do reflect on the hotel's friendly staff - seems like it would be a nice place.

I suggest the Lutetia- it has a very Parisian flair, great views and best of all: in the 7th where your 19 year old will want to shop til she drops. We love it there.
