hotels in Oxford and Wales

My husband and I have 3 or 3 nights in Oxford and 4 or 5 nights in Wales - any suggestions wher to stay? We would like to keep the cost around or under $200/night, and want a private bathroom.

Wales is a big place - which part?

Also I'm pretty sure you don't want a "private" bath - "ensuite" is what you are looking for. (Private baths are yours alone - but down the hall, or even down the stairs. Ensuite baths are w/i your bedroom)

My parents stayed in Old Bank Hotel at Oxford, but it will be more than your budget, which is now a touch less than 100 pounds. I'd recommend trying out some of the bed and breakfasts. Look at tripadvisor, as I really don't know anything about the b and b quality, and some are open just in the summer.

As Janis says you need to narrow down which part of Wales - it's not perhaps that it's a big place, so much as that most of the roads are narrow and slow so it takes a long time to get from one part to another.

I doubt you'll get a decent hotel in Oxford (centre) for $200 a night as silly as that seems. I suggest Marlborough House on Woodstock Rd. There's excellent bus service to the centre and bus stops nearby. It's only about a 10/15 minute ride.

How will you be traveling? Oxford is not car friendly.

Here's another suggestion for Oxford. The Remont B&B on Banbury Rd.

For Marlborough House www.marlbhouse.co.uk

For Remont

Both would be convenient if you're driving.

Kay:

Where in Wales..mode of transportation, etc? We loved staying near Criccieth at the beautiful Mynydd Ednyfed:
