Hotels In or Near Amsterdam?
My teenage daughter and I will be in Europe in early May and plan to spend some time in Amsterdam and area. I've been to Amsterdam a couple of times before and stayed once at the Het Canal House, which was wonderful....but too expensive for me now. Can any Fodorites with recent experience suggest a hotel in the city....or in the nearby area with easy access to Amsterdam? We're on a bit of a budget, so would like to keep it around 100 Euros or less per night....but we're picky on cleanliness and security....just like you! Thanks in advance for your suggestions. Last September my husband and I stayed at the Hotel Hoksbergen..It was 92 Euro per night right on the Singel Canal, close to everything..The rooms are very small, and the hotel basic..But it is clean, has bathrooms and a good breakfast..Also very safe..It is no Hilton, but for 100 Euro in Amsterdam you don't get too much anymore..

Not probably the most exciting suggestion you will get but, when we went we stayed at (I think) an Ibis out at the airport... we drove and didn't want to deal with the traffic in the city. The price was right and it really couldn't have been easier to get into Amsterdam... a free hotel shuttle to the airport and then hop on the train.... very easy.

I have not stayed in these personally, but based on my research I would do so. They are located in the general area of Museumplein - de Munck is 1/2 block off the Amstel, by the Skinny Bridge.

Hi, check the 2 & 3 starred hotels at

Just stayed at the Bridge Hotel right on the Amstel river next to the Theatre Carre. Very nice, clean and safe hotel with a good price, which included breakfast and taxes. It is quite close to Rembrandtplein and the Museumplein. Their website is thebridgehotel.nl. I'm not sure of the rates in May, but it is a great value with nice clean rooms and good service. Enjoy

just checked Expedia...
You can stay at NH Schiphol Airport*** for $107 per night (which is under 100 Euro) NH is a nice hotel chain. Transportation form the airport is fast and easy. |
Who would want to stay at the airport? Then each time you want to come to Amsterdam, you will have to pay for transportation...But it is an alternative though I guess...Hotels are so expensive in Amsterdam now..We have being going there for the last 15 years or so (about 10 or 11 times)..We used to stay in 3 or 4* hotels, but have had to stay in 1 or 2* hotels the last few times we were there...One thing you can do is email specific hotels directly and sometimes they will give you a deal...

I haven't been to Amsterdam, but I have read about a hotel called Seven Bridges. They don't have a website but if you google it, you might find a link with their phone number.

Hotel Kap (as mentioned by travelnut above) was good for me. A great location not far from the Leidseplein or Vondelpark. Convenient yet more peaceful than Central. Nice self-serve breakfast in a sweet dining room included. I had a single w/ shared toilet, private shower for 57euro. The double rooms offered en suite.
