Hotels in Nice

My wife and I and our adult daughter will be in Nice at the end of May. Does anyone have a recommendation for a budget or mid-range hotel that has triples? Also, is the temperature likely to be moderate enough that we can do without an air-conditioned room?

Hi Tim,
I have two hotels I can recommend, and they're right next door to each other:

www.flotsdazur.com

and

Hôtel Villa Eden. 99 Bis. Promenade des Anglais 06000 Nice.
Tél. (33) 04.93.86.53.70 Fax. (33) 04 93.97.67.97

It's unlikely you'll need air-conditioning, but you never know...

Bon Voyage,
BC

Bookchick, are these hotels within short walking distance to "old town".
Thanks

We stayed at the Hotel Villa Eden last summer and I think it was about 1 1/2 miles to the old town. It was a very pleasant walk, right along the Mediterranean, most of the way.

..another reasonable hotel..about 20 min walk to old town. The Aria Hotel.

I highly recommend the following hotel in Nice: Comfort Inn in the Old Town Nice, very close to the port: http://www.comfort-hotel-nice-port.cote.azur.fr/

The rooms were clean, spacious, about 5 minutes walk to the Port (loved it!), about 10 minute walk to the Promenade. I was in Nice late May 2004 and the temperature were in the 70's --upper 80's some days!! No need for A/C at night, though. Oh, I soooo loved Nice adn the time we spent in that area! Tim, again, highly, strongly recommend this hotel. Question: are you driving?

Thanks, everyone, for the hotel suggestions. I've been out of town for a week so I'm just now checking this board. Viajero2, we will be flying from Dublin to Nice and plan to center there for a few days, using the train and the bus to get up and down the coast. Then we will rent a car and drive to Provence (mostly the Luberon) where we will spend a few days before taking the train to Paris.
