Hotels in Munich

I am looking into booking a hotel for my family in Munich, close to the old town (15 min walking distance away max.).
There will be 5 of us: mom, dad, 21 yr old, 19 yr. old, and 15 yr. old, so we were obviously going to get 2 rooms. I haven't however, been successful in finding a hotel that sleeps 3 in a room. The problem is that we are all between 5' 8" and 6' 4" and no one wants to sleep on a roll away.
I was thinking about a 3 or 4 star hotel. We have hotel points and not all hotels can be paid for with the points so as many suggestions for hotels that sleep 3 would be helpful!

Check out LeMeridien - 10,000 SPG points per night and large rooms available with two double beds.

There is also a Courtyard that is well located, as well as a Four Points. The Courtyard is rarely available with points but the Marriott and Renaissance are, though IMO not asconvenient for what we do in Munich.

Yes, Cash and Points there is the best deal but not always available. I have stayed there twice and found it ideal in many ways.

K:
If you lean toward a non-chain local, close to Marienplatz, a few years ago we were very comfortable with The Kraft. Not sure about any point exchanges therein. Rates were quite moderate in '08. Inclusive breakfasts were excellent.

Note: Please be very cautious with Dick's recommendation above (Iris1745). The last time I followed one of his recommendations we ended up in a Provincial Prison in the South of France, where they had added an attached guest ward. Breakfast was black coffee an stale doughnuts. Caveat emptor!

above answer should be addressed to the OP, Amy.
Sorry Kfusto.

When paying with points is not a must and you plan to stay more than just 1-2 nights, you could for apartment with 2-3 bedrooms. Can be less pricey than paying for 2 hotel rooms.

In Munich our family of three stays at the Hotel Acanthus, near the Sendlinger Tor. It's a lovely small hotel in a quiet area. You can walk on pedestrian streets to the Marienplatz in about ten minutes. The breakfast is very good.

One time we stayed in a big family room that took up the whole top floor that I think could have slept four people. This isn't shown on their website, but you could write and ask about it. And on more recent trips we've had a triple room. Our teenage daughter is 5'10" and she didn't have any problem on the third bed.

Hey tower; I love stale doughnuts. They are great to dunk into black coffee. When you come east, I recommend the Salem jail, recently renovated. KathyWood; We also have stayed at the Hotel Acanthus and enjoyed the stay. But LeMeridian is also a good place to stay. The staff were very nice, especially in the bar. No doughnuts there.
