Hotels in Munich
 

I currently have reservations at the Munich Park Hilton. I've never been to Munich so I am looking for other hotel suggestions.

Doris,<BR>I just returned from Munich. I would suggest that you try and get a hotel centrally located. Transportation in Munich is very good, using their trams, buses, U-Bahn and S-Bahn. Hotels that I would recommend you try are and prices shown are in Euro for a double:<BR>4 star - Hotel Paltz 165-226<BR>4 star - Hotel Torbrau 151-228<BR>4 star - Hotel Admiral 148-210<BR>3 star - Hotel Daniel 102-28l<BR>3 star - Hotel Europaischer Hof 76 - 198<BR>3 star - Hotel Mark 76-168<BR>I stayed at the Europaischer Hof. It is right across from the main train station. The rooms are very clean and the buffet breakafast is excellent. We stayed in their comfort class room which offers you a sitting area.<BR>If price is not a problem the Platz is a beautiful hotel right off Marien Platz which is the heart of the old town and all the attractions. Doris,<BR>I forgot to mention that you can get the S-Bahn from the airport to downtown Munich very reasonable. It stops at all the locations downtown, ex. Isator, Marien Platz, Karls Platz and the Hauptbanhof (Main train station).The S-1 and S-8 trains leave from the airport to downtown. We took the S-8. The Welcome card is a good deal for public transporation. You can read about it on the web site mentioned.<BR>Manny

I have stayed at the Advokat and loved it. Great location, friendly staff and modern room. its the sister hotel to the Admiral Hotel listed above. Doris,<BR><BR>I wouldn't recommend the Munich Park Hilton as a convenient location. <BR><BR>The Munich City Hilton (if for any reason you want to use that chain) is very convenient to the old town. It is in a safe neighborhood and there is an U-Bahn stop directly beneath the hotel.<BR>It is on the line for trains direct to the airport, and two stops from the <BR>Marienplatz.<BR><BR>It is a typical Hilton property.

I'm sorry, I don't understand why anyone going to Europe would want to stay in a American type of chain hotel.<BR><BR>I want to get a feel of the city/country. I know what I get at a Holiday/Sheraton, etc. I can do that in the States without the airfare, etc.<BR><BR>Why?

I stayed at the Hotel Torbrau in September and it was WONDERFUL!! It is across the street from a major Bahn stop, the hotel is beautiful, the rooms are extremely large and the breakfast is very good. It is about a five minute walk to the Marienplatz. It is the oldest continuously operating hotel in Munich; it is over 500 years old.<BR><BR>I cannot say enough good things about the service, the room or the location. In addition, the rate is more than fair for such value.

I have seen recommendations for the hotel torbrau and the hotel admiral. Has anyone been to both that could tell me which one they recommend? Both are available for my visit in May at the same rate and I have to make a decision. From maps on websites, they look like they are within a block of each other. I was leaning toward the admiral due to the garden and balcony rooms, but, there is no picture of the front of the hotel on the site. The hotel torbrau seemed more modern and geared toward business travelers. Is this true? Am I missing negatives on the Admiral? Any help would be appreciated!!

Why would someone stay at an AMerican style chain?<BR>I'm looking for rooms for my mother who is reassured by a recognizable name. Also, The Best Western Hotel Cristal is a 4 star hotel and according to their web site they have rooms for $110.00 per night in a great location<BR>It wouldn't be my choice but it could be someones.

Lili,<BR><BR>A Best Western is not like a Holiday in or Hilton. It is a locally owned hotel, usually by a family. They just have an association with Best Western.<BR><BR>I agree, I can't fathom going to Europe to stay in a Hilton or Holiday Inn, etc. Best Western, no problem.<BR><BR>Dick
