Hotels in Munich
 

I will be in munich for 3 nights in july. Have anyone stayed at the Concorde or the Marriott on Berliner Strasse? Any other recommendations in the $150 range?

We have stayed in the Marriott and it is quite pleasant. It is located in a very quiet area, mainly residential. There is an u-bahn (subway)stop just a block down the street with easy access to city center, just a few minutes to get to center. The hotel is typical Marriott, good rooms, an American style sport bar in lobby, etc. It is just off the autobahn so if you are driving easy access from airport and to points out of town. My wife and I both liked this hotel. There is also a really good bakery just on the corner across the street and down a bit that has wonderful pastries etc. and is a good place to get cheap breakfast to have with the coffee made with the inroom coffee maker. It is a good place.

William is right re: convenience of Marriott for autobahn and U bahn is good service, but its proximity to autobahn for me is a real turn off as well as the fact that the area has no charm whatsoever - no way would I ever have booked anyone there when I lived in Munich. <BR>Munich hotels are not very good value - this web site recommends a few in far more central areas - Torbrau is great location but rooms are a bit pokey for the money, City Hilton is ugly building (no uglier than Marriott though) but good location for Deutsche Museum and more central than Marriott, Platzl Hotel (spelling?), very central, Kempinski and Mandarin for more costly places.

The City Hilton may look ugly, but it is very nice. It has a great central location, good parking (if you rent a car), great access to restaurants and the Hofbrau Haus (sp?). My wife and I stayed there in May of 2000 and had a great time there. Excellent full breakfast buffet is available also. We got a king room for reasonable price ($150 USD).

Connie,<BR><BR>If you'd like to pay less and have a nice room in a comfortable hotel in a great location consider the Hotel Uhland on Uhlandstrasse. I believe they have a website. <BR><BR>I've stayed there every time I've gone to Munich and have always been pleased. No ballroom, no big chain trappings just a nice hotel on a quiet street one block from the ubahn and about a 10 minute walk to the Sendlinger tor.<BR><BR>US

We just returned from Munich lst week after spending four nights at the Torbrau Hotel in the old, charming section of town. Our room had just been refurbished and was beautiful with views of Isotar tower (old gate)and is very close to subway stop Isotar. They were renovating floor 5 while we were there, but it caused us no problems. It was priced at about US $150 double, very pleasant staff, delicious breakfast included, great Italian restaurant in hotel. Two block walk to Marienplatz, the main pedestrian square. I saw nothing better for location. It is in a 1500's built building and very nice. Direct subway to airport, costs about $8.00/person, ticket can be purchased at hotel desk. The Torbrau website has all the instructions and prices. Munich is a great city to visit in winter.

<BR>Hi Connie,<BR><BR>my husband &amp; I stayed at the le Meridien for approx 80 euro/nite last March.<BR><BR>The hotel has been newly renovated (less than 1 year ago). Rooms are large, marble bathroom, flat screen TV, excellent buffet breakfast.<BR><BR>Its directly across from the Bahnhof, so getting to/from the airport was easy. 1 block from U-bahn. You can walk to Marienplatz from there - we did several times.<BR><BR>Rates will be higher in July, but you may want to check out the le Meridien website - I think its running about 130 Euros /nite in the summer.

I just booked the Munich Marriott for two nights in May for $60 night

Last may we paid 74euro at Hotel Bristol.It was within walking distance of the train station and everything else.Great breakfast.www.bristol-muc.com 089/595/151tel.number why pay l50.00

Two questions<BR>How did you get a Marriott for $60 an night?<BR>Why does someone want to spend $150 a night?

I booked thru priceline . Choose Munich North area and 4 star hotels. I know of others that booked ~50 for March. I bid $60 for May and was accepted.

Connie, I stayed at the Renaissance Munich the last time I was in Germany (I used my points) and thought it was very nice. In a good part of town and close to the U-Bahn terminal (U4 I think). If you're there on a weekend you could probably get some rates around $75 probably double that on week days. Good luck.

Connie, We just spent from Christmas Day unti New Years Day in Munich. We stayed at the Renaissance. This hotel was GREAT. The staff was wonderful. We had a two room suite with king bed. The price was 95 euros per day and that included breakfast for two and all taxes. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat. Also the u-bahn is right out the door. It's the U-6 train.

I was in Munchen twice in 02. Once around July 1st and again during Octoberfest. On both trips I stayd at the new Merridian. This is a great hotel and is across the street from the train station and a short walk to the famous pedestrian mall. It has a great gym, good food, and fantastic rooms. In fact, each room has a flat screen plasma TV.
