hotels in munich
Our first trip to Germany. Can someone recommend some hotels in Munich. We are not familiar with the different areas.
Thanks |
Your budget? And when are you visiting? And what sort of room/how many of you (family? a couple? whatever?)
|
Can you please provide more information on your date of visit because for all the websites online to book your hotels they need a specific date to show you what the price will be like. Also you can simply hop over to booking.com to see all the available hotels in Munich and their respective prices.

When you look at a map make sure there is a u bahn station close by. We stayed last at Hotel Daniel for location and price. We have stayed in the suburbs but much prefer the central city location. If you are going in summer also look for ac. It does get a bit cooler at night but having windows open means noise. Earplugs are helpful but I like being close to everything for walking.

Marienplatz/ ping in on that location and pick something close by. I try to stay on this side of Karlsplatz going towards Marienplatz for easy walking and getting around. It gets a little dicey for some by the train. Hookers and what not but if that doesn't bother you then look there also.

If you prefer a quiet area (as we do) The Residence Inn Munich Ost might fit the bill. We spent five nights there over Christmas a couple of years ago. Short walk to Munich Ostbahnof, from which you can get just about anywhere.

I've stayed at the Torbrau and loved it !

We often stay at the Platzl. However, there are numerous hotels near the main rail station also. Some folks find the neighborhood "seedy" except. interstingly enough, when they stay at the rather expensive Sofitel and then all that "seedy" talk comes to an abrupt end.

Last month we stayed at the Holiday inn City Centre because it was available on reward points. Turned out to be decent - not posh, pretty typical large hotel but clean, comfortable rooms, great breakfast, fast free WiFi, friendly and responsive staff, located above a U bahn station (Rosenheimerplatz) that made it easy to get to and from. Not particularly memorable as a venue but very functional.
The area directly around the main train station is indeed quite seedy in appearance, especially the Arnulfstraße side, though probably not actually dangerous. |
