Hotels in Marais
 

Hello,
I am looking for a hotel that would accommodate 4 adults. This trip is for my grandma - whose 70th bday we are celebrating in Paris. I want to give my family a sense of different neighborhoods so we are first staying near Rue Cler but I am at a loss as to where else to stay. Marais sounds like a great idea until I began to look for hotels for my specific dates (Mar 22-24).
I don’t want to spend a lot (max 250 Euros for 2 rooms) - any recommendations? Also, I love the idea of staying in quad room but again Marais does not seem to offer that.

BTW, I checked with grandma in advance about the additional stress of changing hotels and she’s all for it.

I stayed at the Hotel De la Bretonnerie a few years back. I see that Fodor still recommends it. I liked the location, the rooms with the timbers on the roof. The neighbourhood is interesting with lots to see and eat.

Another idea in the Marais could be to stay on Ile St Louis. Nice neighbourhood/villagey feel to the area, lower traffic, nice selection of restos, shops, easy wlk everywhere, but no metro on island. Great views of Notre Dame, easy access to Seine cruises, bridges over Seine, Left Bank one bridge away. I have stayed at Lutece and Deux Iles hotels.

I just stayed at the Saint Louis Marais and liked it a lot. Charming (more attractive than the website), renovated bathrooms, reasonably priced, on an extremely quiet street, within easy walking distance of all the shops and restaurants of the Marais, and also near a few Metro stops. Very helpful English speaking staff. The rooms are small, but that is par for the course on a budget in Paris. For just 5 euros over your budget, you could get one standard double--what we had--and also one superior double, which is considerably larger. Actually they also advertise a junior suite that they say can accommodate 4, but I didn't see that room; I think it may be one the top floor of the hotel, which might not be appealing as there's no elevator and the stairs are sort of antique and slanting--don't know if that would be a problem for your grandma. If the absence of an elevator isn't an issue and/or you can stay in two rooms on a lower floor, I think it would be a good choice. (I think they may have a couple rooms on the ground floor, in fact.)

Not in the Marais per se, but we've enjoyed the Mercure Monty, very close to the Opera, Grandes Boulevards, etc. It's a shortish walk from the Marais. Around €110-120 per night, 3 stars I think. Very cute art deco building.

I stayed at the Grand Hotel Mahler, 5 rue Mahler, a few years ago. It's just off rue de Rivoli near the St Paul metro stop. It's newly renovated with friendly English speaking staff. Rooms aren't huge, but nice. It should be within your price range. I didn't eat breakfast at the hotel, but it's convenient to a couple good bakeries.

Hotel De Nice is a good choice.

Try the Axial Beaubourg if you want the Marais district..or the Luitece on Ile St. Louis.

I think that many of the hotels mentioned charge more than 125 E per room. I stayed at the Hotel St. Paul de Marais a few years back; their prices might be a bit lower than some of the others mentioned. It was very charming; beamed celings and all, the typical Paris small hotel "look."

I just looked at Hotel St. Paul Le Marais on trip advisor and it gets some pretty bad reviews. I thought it was fine, as I said, typical small hotel in lower price range but I see the prices are not as low as they were a few years back.

Saint Louis Marais was my first choice however they are booked.
