Hotels in Lahinch
Does anyone have recommendations for hotels in Lahinch? I'm traveling to Ireland in June with a group of golfers. We're playing Lahinch the last day and would like to stay the last two nights there.
Thanks |
This place is a guest house with only nine rooms so maybe to small to accomodate a group. It's a mile south of Lahinch on the waterfront. It's spendy but it's fun to splurge on the last nights. And golfers have the big bucks right? just kidding. Here's the link.

Thank you for the reply. I'll check out Moy House. Staying on the beach is just what I was looking for. I don't mind splurging, but I'll have to check with the others first. We're from the poor side of golftown. Thanks again John |
Lahinch is pretty small although I seem to recall seeing a couple of hotels there: One right next to the Church; the other up the street. If it were me I would probably stay in a larger city like Ennis and drive down to Lahinch (30 minutes) in the morning. Ennis has a couple of first rate hotels (Temple Gate and the Old Ground); it's more convenient to Shannon than Lahinch and there's lots more happening in Ennis!
Since you're going to be in that area for 2-nights, consider a 'warmup' round at Spanish Point: a 9-hole Executive (no Par-5's) links course. It's only a few miles down the coast from Lahinch. If your trip is in late June, avoid Doonberg and Dromoland (County Clare) and much of County Kerry: Jun 25-27 is when G.W. Bush will visit an EU meeting in County Kerry. There will be a large Garda presence to handle the Protestors & Secret Service all over the place. Many of the Irish people I spoke with earlier this year think George W. Bush is totally 'bonkers.' But they loved Bill Clinton. The Anti-Bush protestors won't be just Irish people. Ireland has a diverse population that includes many Muslims. A Brother-in-law to Usama bin Laden was given (dual status) Irish Citizenship in 1991 and has a mansion and compound west of Dublin. |
If you stay in Ennis, try the Old Ground. They have some very good rates right now. In June 199 euros for two nights, breakfast and one dinner, and that's a weekend rate. During the week will be less. Their website is

Sorry--I meant 155 euros in my post--not 199.

NEDSIRELAND:
I did reserve rooms in Ennis a few months ago and still have the reservations. I originilly chose Ennis for two reasons: 1)it's between Lahinch and Shannon, 2)just as you said, Ennis is a bigger town. But the idea of staying by the beach and within walking distance of Lahinch GC sounded interesting, so I thought I would check it out. Holldoll: I did check the Old Ground, as well as the Temple Gate when I made my original Ennis reservation. Both hotels were unavailable, but I will check the Old Ground again. Thanks John |
