Will someone please help me with suggestions for hotels in the Kensington area? Thanks.

Can you give a price range please?

the kensington posthouse is nice and right in the heart of it all. the price should be reasonable. its part of the forte/le meridien chain. <BR> <BR>http://www.forte-hotels.com type 'london' in the search function to fing the hotels page (if u put in 'kensington' u get nothing) <BR> <BR>forte also has a few other nice hotels around london. <BR> <BR>radisson also has a chain of edwardian hotels that is very british. they may have one in the area. inquire about special rates. make sure they are booking u into one of the edwardian hotels and not a SAS or one of their regular ones.

We stayed at the Royal Gardens. Very lovely and very convenient. The bus stopped right in front of the hotel and the tube was just down the block.

We stayed at the Swiss House Hotel on Old Brompton Road in South Kensington and were very pleased with it. Two years ago, we paid about 72 pounds a night. It was less than a ten minute walk to the nearest tube station, and there were lots of restaurants in the area.

<BR>Bailey's Hotel in S. Ken. near the Glouscester Road Tube stop. Clean, breakfast available, moderately priced. I don't have the current prices. <BR>Highly recommend it.

We stayed at the Jury's Kensignton at the end of March and it was just fine, if a mite pricey. The "continental breakfast" included was great. Ham, salami, cheese, various cereals, breads, <BR>jams, fruit, juices, coffee and tea. We ate a hearty breakfast so we could do a lot of walking. I wonder why the other post didn't like the hotel?

Depends on your price range. Good budget hotels are the Abbey House and Vicarage. I have suggested a few good hotels on my London guide at http://londonguide.cjb.net which you may find useful? Kensington is a good choice as it is central and good for museums etc - lots of hotels and restaurants to choose from too.

We stayed at the Abbey House a year ago (it's right next door to the Vicarage, I think). It's a fine location, on a pretty, townhouse lined street, about 3-4 minute walk from the tube. It seemed to be the most "budget" location available at the time, for someone interested in basic amenities. And it was OK. For the ewquivalent of $110 a nite in London...but we had a room with one desk -- or office=style -- chair, other than the bed...and a bath (clean) a few steps away. The breakfast, in a pleasant (below-grade, or basement level) room (why do folks so seldom talk to each other in these places??), was the typical English, but nicely served and an overall pleasant impression.....It's just that, as N. Americans, it's a little hard to get used to a room with NO bathroom and no place to sit...for more than $100 a nite....
