Hotels in Italy - Storing Luggage
Daughter and I will be traveling in Italy for 3 weeks before she begins school there.
We need to find a place to store the her school luggage (2 large suitcases) while we travel. We have tried several avenues; our next is to see if any hotels in Rome or Perugia would hold the luggage for us. Any suggestions? Thanks. |
make that "store her school luggage"

Would you be able to stay at that same hotel for at least a few days at the beginning and then again at the end of traveling around Italy?
|
Suze --
Yes, that would be my plan if a hotel would agree to hold the luggage. |

Luggage storage at Rome airport |
I have considered the Rome airport, but so far can't find out if they would hold luggage for 3 weeks---and if they would, would it be safe.
|
Have you asked the hotel yet? Certainly most have a luggage hold room of some sort off the lobby or behind the front desk for when guests arrive early or are checking out late. If yes, that surely would be the easiest option. Even if they asked a fee or some kind.

Suze--
I'm going to email the hotels after I've compiled my list of possibilities in our price range. |
Don't know Teseo, but Orvieto is en route from Rome to Perugia...
|
Ahh, sorry I thought you already had hotel reservations.
I'm guessing this will be easier than you are imagining. I'd simply contact several hotels and ask if they have stored luggage for guests. Many people are in this situation for many different reasons. |
Thank you, Teseo. I just saw your posting. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, LJ.
Leaving her bags in Orvieto is a possibility, although not the most convenient, as my daughter must be in either Perugia or Rome on a certain day to meet her group. It would work to fly into Rome, drop bags in Orvieto, and continue our trip, but then, my daughter has two options after our vacation: 1) If she meets her school group at the airport in Rome, she can ride a charter bus to Perugia with them. There would be no opportunity to retrieve her bags in Orvieto. (Unless she goes there by herself several days later, and I don’t want her to have to do that.) This option works best for me, too, because I could catch my own plane back, knowing she is (or soon will be) with her group. 2) If she meets her group in Perugia, she needs her bags with her. If her bags are in Orvieto, that means we would have to backtrack to get them, get her to Perugia, and I still have to get to Rome for my flight. I’m still working on our itinerary; in fact, I’m going to post it separately to get some help. |
Thanks, Suze. I sure hope you're right.

I believe I already suggested in a separate thread with this question, have you considered shipping her stuff over, boxed up, like by FedEx or something? That sure seems easier. Best of luck!
|
Thanks, Suze. I've checked into shipping her things over (in boxes and/or luggage inside boxes); it seems to be inadvisable for several reasons. I think our best bet is to take the luggage to Italy ourselves.
