Hotels in Italy!!!! HELP!
 

Hello you all!!!!!!!
Me and My husband are going to Italy for our honeymoon... We need some bed & breakfast in: Capri; Siena; Florence and Rome. We will be there the week of 06 - 15 of June.
Nothing expensive.... ;o)

We stayed at the Hotel Italia in Rome. It was nice, with a lovely breakfast, and reasonably priced. Good luck!

Acctually, we are trying to find some cheap but nice bed & breakfast! We are students so..... don't have much to spend in hotels.

Chandra log onto www.caprionline.com there are very few hotels in your price range in Capri, if any.
You might want to check into the town of AnaCapri- a short distance away-they will be listed on the above site as well.

We are staying at the Santa Caterina in Siena in about a week - it was more than you wanted to spend at around $140/night. We found many hotels on www.Tuscany.net. They had some that were less expensive. Maybe that site will help with Tuscany and FLorence.

try www.travel.it for rome hotels, and then try www.venere.com to find some in your range. If you want to stay in USD don't forget to do the exchange rate. I think as of today it is 1.14 USD= 1Euro
We are staying at Hotel Villa Fiesole (florence) and Hotel Dei Consoli (Vatican) or Hotel Alpi (Rome) or Hotel Santa Maria (Rome).

Like Tracy, we stayed at the Hotel Italia in early April and would recommend it. It was clean, in a nice location, had a great staff and was reasonable.

Last year in late May we stayed at the Blue Rose B&B in Rome. Very reasonable, clean. Nice website:

Now one more question..... How many days should I stay in each city, given that my total is 8 days? How should I divide it? (not counting the arrival and departure days.)

Given 4 cities in 8 days I would say:
Capri 2
Rome 3
Siena 1
Florence 2

This is a tight schedule, you may consider dropping a city or much of your time will be travelling and settling into a hotel room. You can easily spend a week in Rome and not get bored.

Just got back from Tuscany. We hired a private guide in Florence named Alessandro Cammilli. He was wonderful. A native of Florence, he speaks good english, & knows some of the off the beated path sights. He's very reliable, & very reasonbly priced at $25 per hour for two, $35 per hour for four. He furnishes the transportion, & can take you to Pisa, to the wineries in Tuscany, to good restaurants, to and from the airport, etc. Alessandro is a good italian driver, just don't watch any of the cars when in Florence. Our trip would not have been the same without Alessandro's help. He can even reserve tickets to museums in advance.

If you only have 8 days, may I suggest that you either do the North or the Central part of Italy, but not both? You are spending a lot of time packing, unpacking and training.

You can do
Rome 2 days, Florence 4 days with trips to Sienna and Lucca/Pisa, Rome 2 days

OR

You can do the Amalfi Coast and Capri.

In Florence, I found the B&B Peter for 60 E/nite double. It is spare but nice.

Never less than 2 nights in one spot.

Check the several web sites you will find for Fiesole for Florence. Fiesole is a terriffic location to stay when visting Florence, especially romantic. The web sites you find, key word Fiesole, will have plenty of hotel info. You won't get it for $75, but you can stay in the same room as the Queen Mother at the Villa Aurora (has a hot tub, too) in Fiesole. Blockbuster view of Florence below you from the balcony.

$75 in Rome could be a trick unless you are living under a bridge. Do check the website for "Ladolcevita1" for a range of BBs very well located.

We sometimes stay outside of a town to save money and train in and out very conveniently. In Rome, however, the trains are somewhat packed during commuter hours and you tend to miss the joy of evening walks.

Capri is an outrider. Get to know one of the other towns better and assume you will find your way back another time.
