>>AC Firenze<<<
Not in the center.
>>>Albani<<<
Closer, but by the train station. I would rather stay in the center where it's pretty much pedestrian only.
Rome: NH Giustiniano or Boscolo Exedra
Same as above. I would prefer the area of the Boscolo and consider it more walkable to most things.
How did you arrive at this hotel list?

Your requirements are not clear.
IMHO we always go for hotels that are very central, so we can walk to many sights easily. This often requires either raising the budget or simplifying our requirements.
Don't know these hotels in Sorrento - but it's a smallish town - so as long as in the town not TOO far away. But - the further away from the water the steeper it is. Have you looked into distance and incline to get to the main piazza?
Without knowing your dates. budget and number of people it's not easy to make suggestions.

Yes. These are my tour option hotels. It's our first trip to Italy. We travel quite a bit, but mostly domestically. So, we've been looking for something with some structure, yet free time as well. After lots of research, we have pretty much decided on a tour by Monograms that gives us some structure while also giving us a lot of free time. We'll be traveling via train from Venice to Florence to Rome to Sorrento, We'll have three nights at each, with 1.5 half days free time on our own at each place. The downside, I suppose, is that we're limited in our hotel choices.

I haven't stayed at any of these hotels, but based on being able to walk to sites in the center I would pick:
Albani in Florence (on the side of Florence towards the center - 10 minute walk to center - AC hotel is further out)
Boscolo in Rome (between the main train station and Spanish Steps - can easily access metro to Vatican or train station and walk to Trevi, Spanish Steps, etc.)
Conca Park in Sorrento (busy street, but easy walk to pedestrian only center - five minutes).
I don't go to Venice as often as these cities so maybe someone else can comment on the location of those hotels. I would check to see if the hotels such as AC and Hilton have shuttles to the center if you like their amenities better. It's also possible the AC is on the tram line in Florence, but I still prefer to stay somewhere close enough to walk to all the sites/restaurants.
Do you need to transfer from the train stations to your hotels or is some kind of transfer included?
