Hotels in Istanbut Under $50?
Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in the Sultanamet area of Istanbul for under $50?
We're going to Turkey in July, will we need a/c? Thanks in advance, Sandy (in Denton) |
I swear, when I typed this request, that "t" on the end of Istanbul was an "l" . . . don't know what happened!

Hi Sandy_b,
I always stay in HALI HOTEL. Check their web page. www.halihotel.com Have a nice trip in Turkey Sinan Akdeniz |
Hi, Sandy,
I did a search and came across the Side Pension and hotel (http://www.sidehotel.com/) which has always gotten a lot of good press for a budget place. I met a couple who stayed there and liked it. Another place slightly above that is the Apricot hotel, which seems to have gotten decent writeups, too (http://www.apricothotel.com/). Finally I'd recommend looking at Tom Brosnahan's website, The Turkey Planner. Tom is the author of the Lonely Planet guide for Turkey, and his information is invaluable. I'm not a bottom-budget traveller, but loved his guidebook for Turkey and used it a lot (http://turkeytravelplanner.com/). |
The Spectra is 3 star with air conditioning, should be about USD 40-50, te Ebroy around same price, we didn't stay at those but that is what we were quoted, a nice small place around $ 50 is the Zeynep Sultan Boutique Hotel which has a/c, mini bar, cable tv etc, about 30 rooms.

Tash Konak is easy walking to Blue Mosque, rooftop area for breakfast or a drink with views of Bosphorus. If you search around you won't have any trouble finding nice places under $50, even for $30 you can get nice places.

Thanks to all who replied . . . I have Googled all these hotels and they all appear to be out of my range.
Hali - $81 BW Spectra - $88 Zeynep Sultan - $87 Tash Konak - $68 Before I posted, I had checked these: Ambassador - $88 Orient Express - $100 Poem - $75 Side - $75 for hotel w/a/c; $40 for pension w/fan Uyan - $100 Zeugma $88 So . . . I'm still looking! Anyone else have any suggestions? I know I can book with an agency but you all are a better source for first-hand info. Thanks again, Sandy (in Denton) |
