Can anyone recommend a 4 or 5 star hotel within walking distance of the blue mosque and the grand bazaar.

Yesil Ev--4 star; beautiful garden with trickle fountain and fairy lights. Good food.

The obvious suggestion would be the Four Seasons which would be equivalent to 5-star or luxury level.

I was going to mention the Four Seasons, but aren't they undergoing noisy renovations?

We have narrowed it down to:

Kempinksi-which looks lovely

Hyatt-which has a nice outdoor pool

Ritz-my husband has a contact there.

Has anyone stayed at these properties?

None of these hotels are in Sultanahmet, which means that they AREN'T within walking distance of the Blue Mosque or Grand Bazaar.

I stayed at the Ritz-Carlton in July, 2005. It is a very beautiful hotel with tons of amenities and is within walking distance of Dolmahbace Palace.

The Ciragan Kempinski is set by itself on the Bosphorus and is not located by any tourist sites, but is close to the nightlife of Ortakoy. It is also a short cab ride to the shopping of Nisantasi.

The Grand Hyatt is not in the same league as the Kempinski or Ritz-Carlton, but does have a really good restaurant. The swimming pool is not that spectacular.

Thanks for the reply.

My husband and children are hotel snobs so it probably looks like the Ritz!

Thanks

I have often stayed at the Kempinski- much nicer than the Ritz to me.
Great Bosphorous views from most rooms and restaurants.
The outdoor pool is fantastic with the view to the water and also fine food and beverage service.

Hotel restaurants allow you to dine outdoors if you wish -

While not inexpensive , a fantastic experience.

A short walk to Ortakoy area with numerous restaurants including Feriye Lokantasi ( www.feriye.com ) many shops.
A 5-10 minute walk to the ferry docks permit a nice trip to the asian side of Istanbul or with one transfer direct to the Sultanahmet area and all the sights.
