Hi
I live in Vienna and have only stayed at the Intercontinental before hand but have checked out rooms in other hotels for a business associate.
Intercon - revolting architecture, typical of Intercons world wide. Good service in club rooms but would not choose to stay there. Hilton on Stadt park - horrible location in being next door to a grim railway station although also next to the park (drug dealing in summer) and next to airport bus terminal.
hotel de France on ring - recommended by former colleagues.
Ambassador - dead centre and very high quality rooms.
Konig Von Hugarn - good location and certainly has charm, but some rooms do feel a little dated. I understand why people like this hotel, but a bit overpriced I think.
Sacher - my wife said the suites were great.
Imperial - has most expensive room (the big suite) in Vienna - quite an OTT hotel. Good if you like lots of serious chintz.
Bristol - never seen rooms, but frankly I always think it has a very unpleasant musty smell.
You should definitely stay in first district or on ring (but can be noisy). As a tourist, do not bother going outside to other areas. Simply not worth it.
