Hotels in Florence and Venice
Can anyone recommend hotels in Florence and Venice. Looking for ideal locations. Am looking to keep the cost under $200 US/night. Any recommendations from places you've stayed would be great!

I booked La Calcina in Venice and Tourist House Ghiberti in Florence for my September vacaion. Both came highly recommended on this site and are under $200 USD. I also read good things about Hotel Ala and Pensione Accademia in Venice and Hotel Casci in Florence.

We stayed at both of those hotels this past September and recommend both highly. We |
I just booked Tourist House Ghiberti and La Calcina for a trip this July based on recommendations of other Fodorites. Another hotel that seems to get good reviews here and would be within your price range is LOCANDA ORSEOLO, but it is a lot smaller than La Calcina, and may be hard to book.

While you probably already have plenty of suggestions, I'll offer another...we stayed at Relais Uffizi (www.relaisuffizi.it) while in Florence for 3 nights and loved it! The location was ideal, the rooms were splendid, reasonable rates and kind service. I would stay there again...
Happy travels! |
The Casci is good (www.hotelcasci.com).

Thank you for all of your help. I have made 3 attempts to e-mail La Calcina through their website (both online reservation and the information e-mail address on their site) and have not had a response. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it better to call? Do they speak English?

I second the Relais Uffizi. Great location, charming and the staff was very kind.

Yes, the management at Calcina speaks English, and I found them quite responsive to emails...though it may take a day or so.

We loved Antica Dimora in Florence and Ca Satriano in Venice. Both had great locations for walking to sights. In Venice we felt we had a house all to ourselves. The only staff is one gentleman who makes breakfast and cleans in the mornings, then you're on your own. If you want more attention, try Hotel Novecento - small but charming.
Antica in Florence has a wonderful staff to offer help. They put together an amazing private museum tour for us. They own several nice properties in Florence. All are reasonably priced. www.veniceby.com/novecentovenice/ www.anticadimorafirenze.it/index_e.htm www.ca-satriano.com/www/page.html |
