Hotels in Florence
I've narrowed my choice down to 3 possible hotels: Bernini Palace, Boscolo Astoria or Hotel Pendini. The Pendini shows up in some guide books as a good place, but "trip advisor" reviews aren't very good. Conversely the Bernini Palace and Astoria seem to have good reviews, but I haven't found either of them in any guidebooks. Advice?

Sharon I stayed at the Tourst House Ghiberti, last Sept. and absolutley loved it, I think it's better then the Pendini, here's the web site: www.touristhouseghiberti.com I posted a trip report you can find it by entering I left my heart in Italy, in the search box.
Best of luck Fluffy |
Sharon, another enthusiastic vote for Tourist House Ghiberti!
We stayed there for 4 nights last December and LOVED it! Very clean, very big room, very modern (computer in our room with free internet access, automatic light switch), great breakfast buffet!!! Great location - just a block or so from the Duomo. Fluffy, thanks for recommending Tourist House Ghiberti! We booked there because of your recommendation! |
Hi Sharon -
Another vote for Tourist House Ghiberti if its available. Sorry to hijack your thread, but . . . FLUFFY - I thought about you today. Hope all your plans are progressing nicely. Best wishes. |
Fluffy, jmoy and rookie - Thanks so much for the advice on the Tourist House Ghiberti. I did check out their website and it looks like it lives up to your enthusiastic recommendations. I hope I'm not being penny wise and pound foolish, but I've booked the Bernini Palace for 135 Euro a night through venere.com and the Ghiberti House charges 150 Euro (same as the Pendini). Now if anyone has stayed at the Bernini Palace and writes back to suggest I stay elsewhere, the Ghiberti House will be at the top of my list. Otherwise, I guess I'll just stick with the Bernini. Thanks again for your responses!

Sharon,
If its worth it to you, contact Claudio at THG directly and ask for rates. He responded promptly to my emails prior to our arrival, and we were offered a discount for cash settlement. I'm sorry, but I don't remember what the discount was. |
Hi Sharon -
Cash discount offered at THG was 8%. Enjoy Florence! |
Dear sharon1021,
Please could you post your feedback on Hotel Bernini Palace? we are planning to stay there for our honeymoon, and any advice/warnings would be much appreciated! Munna |
Munna,
The Bernini Palace was excellent - great location a block from the Uffizi Gallery and the Piazza della Signoria; the breakfast was magnificent and our room was quite spacious with a huge bathroom with a tub and a shower. The only suggestion I would make is to ask to see the room. We stayed in room 115 which was OK, but it was a bit on the dark and dreary side with dingy wallpaper and threadbare chairs. For 135 Euros a night I didn't complain; besides we hardly spent any time in the room - Florence was absolutely magnificent. Best wishes on you wedding/honeymoon! |
