Hotels in Florence
Hi! My family and I are traveling to Italy this summer. I am between 4 different hotels in Florence and was wondering if anyone has stayed at any of them.
Palazzo Castri 1874 Hotel Regency Hotel Langarno Grand Hotel Minerva We are flying in and out of Milan and will take the train to Florence stay 4 nights and then head up to Lake Como for the remainder of our trip. I already have a hotel booked there. Open to advice! Would love to be able to walk around Florence as we will not have a car. Thanks |
I have not stayed at any of those particular hotels but Hotel Grand Minerva is right on piazza Santa Maria Novella which is close to the train station and an easy walk to most sights. I have stayed several times nearby at The Place (formerly JKPlace).
I think you meant Hotel Lungarno, this is in a prime position overlooking the river and right near the entrance to the Ponte Vecchio, I think it is one of the Ferragamo family hotels. Looks very nice, the only drawback I can see is there is a ton of foot traffic in that area, so it is busy all the time. Florence is a very compact city so easily walkable. Looks like you are going in summer which will be extremely crowded and can get very very hot as Florence sits in kind of a basin. Because it is a small city with narrow streets the volume of tourists there especially in summer completely overwhelms the city. To get away from some of the crowds try crossing the river into Oltrarno which is a more local area and full of interesting little artisan shops and restaurants. |
