Hotels in Cyprus

I will be staying in Limassol in September and am looking for a hotel near the town. Proximity to the beach would be nice, but not absolutely necessary. I am considering these hotels: Ajax Hotel and Holiday Inn.
Has anyone any information on these?

They are both Ok properties fairly close to each other. The Ajax is not on a beach but in a residential area, Holiday Inn is on the beach. The Meridien is slightly outside Limassol and is a fabulous hotel although the beach is rocky, they have a small pier where you can climb down into the crystal clear water. Four Seasons is also another good hotel.

Can't really help, as I have not been to Cyprus since shortly before the Turks invaded in 1974. Has anyone been to the north (Turkish) part of the island recently?

I would love to revisit where I lived in Kyrenia, which I thought one of the nicest places on the planet.

(Sorry to hijack your thread Lolo.)

Odin - do you know if the Ajax hotel is within walking distance to any restaurants, bus etc? I will not have a car and don't want to rely on taxis all the time.
The Meridien and 4 Seasons both look good, but are a bit to pricey.

The Ajax is a bit far for walking to any restaurants. Less expensive options would be the St Raphael which is next to the Meridien, you can walk to various restaurants from there. Or the Holiday Inn would be better for transportation options.

Just in case Odin is still there, I will be in Paphos for a couple of nights then to Nicosia and across to Kyrenia. I haven't started looking at hotels yet, but saw this thread and wondered if you have any recommendations? I don't want a resort or a beach, want some where in the centre of town convenient for transport links. I've just got the new Rough Guide so I'm sure they will have suggestions, but I'd appreciate any insider tips. Thanks

I had been to Rising Star Apartments Protaras in Cyprus. It’s a nice hotel having wide choices of facilities and is situated on the beautiful beachfront. http://www.thebigpicturedirect.co.uk...partments.aspx
