hotels in Cascais?
Hi, does anyone have a good hotel rec in Cascais, Portugal? I will be traveling to Portugal in Sept and would love to check out the beaches there.

I won't have a car, so someplace within walking distance to the beach would be great.
I visited Fortaleza do Guincho and loved it! It's small, charming, has good food, beautiful views and a small beach. www.maisturismo.pt/guincho.html

In Costa do Estoril just Guincho is a good beach, the rest are not very clean. But to chill under the sun and to experience the charm of that area, Hotel Vila Galé in Estoril, has a good situation within walking distance to the ocean and just by the station to Lisbon and Cascais. Clean and friendly staff.

Hotel Albatroz

Cascais center - one door opening to the beach. 1 mile or so walking over the sand there is Estoril resort with the famous Casino.

Albatroz is the other side of the street, regarding Cascais train station with trains going to Lisbon every hour (20 mins travel).

BTW Albatroz is a sea bird. I don't know the English name for it.

tel= intl prefix + 351 + 21 484 73 80

I will put in a plug NOT to select the Hotel Baia in Cascais, although its location right on the beach can't be beat. Depressing rooms, somewhat run down, full of tour groups. Oy.

WE stayed at the Albatros and loved. Great views, located right above the beach, great rooms, one of our all time favorites!
|
To the top.

Err, I didn't rate the Albatroz (too old fashioned for me) - but it is very convenient for the train station. Family went to Fortazela to meet up with friends this year - they were impressed by the bar/terrace, but you'd need a taxi to get there from town, and then, well, coastal erosion would do for the place pretty fast.

We're booked in at the Case de Pergola in Cascais...anyone have comments about it? It looks nice but unsure...

Marlena
