Hotels in Cannes

I am looking for a hotel in Cannes close to, or on the Croisette for my honeymoon in June 2004. Obviously a sea view would be nice but not essential. Definitely need AC in the room though. The hotels that are EUR300+ a night are out of my price range so I'm looking for a recommendation for a hotel in the EUR175-200 a night range. I've read reviews and looked at a few hotels that are within this price range. Any feedback on the following would be appreciated: Le Grand Hotel, Hotel Splendid, Eden Hotel, Radisson SAS Montfleury. Are there others I should think about?
Thanks!

We spent several nights at Hotel Splendid about 8 or 9 years ago and still get beautiful Christmas cards from them every year. It is an old hotel, but very charming and well maintained. No, it isn't the Carlton, but for that price who would expect that? The staff was very accomodating and they honored our request for an upper floor with balcony to the sea. It really was a great place.

Four years ago we stayed at the Noga Hilton, right on the Croisette next to the Carleton, for the amazing rate of about $160, including breakfast. It was a package, and it was four years ago, and it was late August (which may be less than June), but still you might ask.

I found Le Martinez to be very nice the last time I stayed in Cannes. It is part of the Concorde Hotel group and has recently been updated and renovated. It is a classic art deco style hotel with a great central location. If I remember correctly, a large room with a full size bed was about $175.00. That was in April, just before the beginning of the busy spring season for Cannes. Regardless of where you stay, you will find Cannes to be a romantic and beautiful base to explore the area.

Hi
For our honeymoon, we stayed at the Gray d'Albion right off the croisette. I think it's in your price range. They do have their own private beach and the rooms have balconies and great views!
Congratulations!

If you can get a rate of 175 in the Martinez, then go for that! That's very cheap for that hotel. And the beach of the Martinez is great for people watching (any of the big hotel beaches really; even if you don't stay in one of these top hotels, do get chairs on their beaches sometime).

I agree - if you can get The Martinez for $175, that's a great deal. Something about staying on the hotel beaches - the small restaurants interspersed between the hotels often have beaches for much less. For example, the Noga Hilton's beach chairs were about $20 three years ago; the restaurant next door (with great moules frites!) was about $10 - and had the exact same ambiance/service!

You also might want to consider breaking up your time. The Croisette is lots of fun, but not really relaxing, or even particularly beautiful. You might want to spend a few days in a romantic spot a little inland, such as St. Paul de Vence (Hotel Mas d'Artigny is great.)
Congratulations!
