Hotels in Bologna

I have a choice of staying at either the San Donato or the Hotel Roma in Bologna. Does anyone have any experience at either one? I read that there is a nightclub near San Donato that could be noisy. When I emailed the hotel's proprietor, their response was that it happens during the summer, when patons leave the windows open! Any help would be appreciated.

Haven't stayed at the San Donato, but would highly recommend the Roma. Lovely hotel, and location is perfect.

Another vote for the Roma. Great location in the middle of town. Can walk easily to all of central city.

I have never stayed in either, but I have heard negative reports on Roma, good on San Donato. I don't mean to stir the pot here, but San Donato will be more charming and historical. The proprietor is right about the night club, but if it is winter, it shouldn't be a problem.

AS far as know the Roma has a good reputation of good service, welcomig , etc.
