Hi,

I like the Hilton Berlin in the Gendenmarkt ( Stadmitte U-Bahn) Good rooms, good weekend rates, handy to travel around berlin, good buffet and good swimming pool.

We recently stayed at the Grand Hyatt in Berlin. The location was great. We were on the concierge floor which provided breakfast and happy hour. Really enjoyed those. The rooms were very modern, large and high tech. The concierge was also extrememly helpful.

Dev, Gregory is right, the Hilton is a nice hotel in a great location but a less expensive alternative might be the Astron Hotel which is just off the Friedrichstrasse (I'm sorry I don't remember the name of the street it is on but it is the main one leading to Potsdamer Platz to the south). Doubles with breakfast are below $100 and, as with the Hilton, it is nicely located for walking to Unter den Linden, Potsdamer Platz or the pleasant Gendarmenmarkt. Astron Hotels, a smaller chain, have a web site but I don't have the address. Hope this gives you another alternative.

Dev, last night I posted a recommendation for the Astron Hotel in Berlin. Information I didn't have at the time is the address: It is on Leipzigerstrasse near the intersection with Friederichstrasse. www.astron-hotels.com if you wish to pursue it. Jim.
