Hotels in Bayeux, Giverny

I am planning a trip to Normandy in October. Has anybody stayed any place they really liked in Bayeux or Giverny? Hotels or B&Bs are fine.

Thanks in advance for all replies.

Love this place in Bayeux, but it's a lot pricier than it was the last time I stayed there - still not over the top, though, for what you get.

We stayed at the Churchill in Bayeux. We chose it primarily because it had AC and was situated at the pick-up spot for the D-Day tours. We enjoyed our stay there.....room was fine and staff quite helpful!

We have had good stays at both the Churchill and the Reine Mathilde.

Le Lion D'or was in a great location for us.

We enjoyed staying at Lion’Or too.The owner shared the hotel’s history with is, including WWII.
Excellent restaurant on premises.

Caen has easy access to Bayeux and the Normandy beaches and, being a city, offers a wider range of accommodations and restaurants. Its "peace" museum gets good reviews and runs tours to the wartime sites.
You have had little response about Giverny, just on the edge of Normandy. Most people visit as a part-day excursion from Paris. Vernon is the nearest village to the Monet gardens and where the visitors leave the Paris train for a short shuttle to the park.

We are hoping to go to Caen and see the peace museum between a stay of three nights in Cabourg, where I am attending a conference, and one night in Bayeux, where I hope to see the tapestry. My husband will be taking a tour of the Normandy beaches one of the days I am at the conference.

After Bayeux we are heading to Giverny for the two nights prior to flying home from Paris. I have found a B&B in Giverny from a Fodorite on Facebook and I just reserved that.

I am deciding between several of the recommended properties in Bayeux. It looks like there are several good choices.

Agree about the Churchill, stayed there twice on visits to Bayeux. Found we liked the smaller town more than staying in Caen and the hotel had good automobile access as well as being on the pedestrian street. To visit Giverny we stayed in Rouen last summer at the Hotel de Bourgetheroulde, https://www.marriott.com/hotels/trav...ph-collection/. It is a beautiful historic hotel in the center of town. It was easy to take the train to Giverny.

Another vote for The Churchill. We loved our stay there. The staff was very helpful with restaurant recommendation / bookings. The location is excellent.

If you have a car, we loved La Reserve in Giverny, just a bit up the hill from the main street. The breakfast is the best we've had in 17 years of travels in Europe. The rooms are very comfortable, overlooking the orchard. It's like staying at your friend's private estate.

I have reserved a room in Les Arceaux in Giverny, and La Reine Mathilde in Bayeux.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I checked them all out, lots of good choices.
