Hotels in Barcelona
Anyone stayed at any of these hotels? We're trying to decide. We are also going to have a car, so parking is a concern.
Hispanos Siete Suiza Barcelona Universal H10 Montcada Princesa Sofia (Intercontinental) Hotel Any advice on any of these will be appreciated. |
I've stayed at the Princesa Sofia and would not recommend it. My room was very dirty! They hadn't swept the floor in weeks! Honestly, it was the dirtiest room I've ever stayed in. I stayed there for a week. They did change the bed linens and cleaned the bathroom but all the hotel sweepers must've been broken.

Thanks for the tip. We had a look on the intercon site, and it looks rather average for a 5 star.
I'm told it's just been done up, but isn't in the area we'd most like to stay in anyway, so that's a good way to rule one of the hotels out! |
The Sofia is a 5* hotel??? I had no idea. That's laughable!
Have a great time in Barcelona! Don't miss the Rambla! |
Hotel Calderon was a good choice for Barcelona as it is a very easy short stroll to La Rambla (must see). Hotel Calderon is perhaps a 3/4 star. It is clean and modern. I was on a group tour so cannot tell you the rate we paid, but you might check their web site for a look. It's one of the NH Hotels, if that helps you find their web site. It is also an easy stroll to Plaza Cataluna, where you can catch one of the city tour buses. The tour bus is a good way to get the feel of the city. You can hop on and off at the various stops. I can't answer your question about parking, I'm afraid.

Another good 4* place in an unbeatable location is the Colon..directly across from the gothic cathedral. The website is www.hotelcolon.es I believe. The cathedral-view rooms are worth the money and it is just a few steps from the Rambla.
