Hotels in Athens

We are planning to fly to Athens in the beginning of April for about 5 days. (We currently live in Germany) We are looking for a moderatley priced hotel in Syntagma Square for two nights and then we want to visit Mykonos and Santorini. Any suggestions on hotels and best way to travel to the islands at this time of the year.

There have been a zillion threads about your questions. You should try searching the existing threads first and then asking specific questions after you have reviewed what others have already said.
By the way, what does modererately priced mean to you?

I'd recommend the Athens Cupria Hotel. We spent 125 Euro in November, 2004. Ask for a 6th floor room with a view of the Parthenon from the balcony.

try the Amazon Hotel, the Cypria is nice as well but a bit more $.The Amazon is recently redone, perfectly situated clean small hotel...tiny elevators and reception.

For convenience I always recommend the Arethusa, it is a five minute walk from the airport bus or train stops in Syntagma Square, it is the most central at a moderate price. The staff are lovely and very helpful, the rooms are clean but not flash, however are a reasonable size and the buffet breakfast is very good.

Anne,
I can't offer any help as I've never been to Greece............BUT.......
I am hoping to get there in April of 2007 so I'd love to hear how you made out weather wise and where you decided to go. I'd have about 7 days there.
Thanks
Betty
