hotels in Athens

We will be traveling in Greece in late April and wanted to find a nice hotel near the Plaka, in view of the Parthenon if possible. We would like to spend $200 -$250. Any suggestions?

The Electra Palace Hotel is lovely and about as convenient as it gets for Plaka. Otherwise, have a look at the Plaka Hotel.

Agree ... Electra Palace Hotel is _very_ nice.

Don't confuse it with its similar-sounding sister, the "Electra Hotel", which is not nearly as nice.

With the falling dollar vs euro, the Electra Palace may well be in the $250-300 range by now.

Hi

The 3 star Adrian Hotel - http://www.douros-hotels.com/view_hotels.asp?hotel_id=2 - is in the Plaka and has double rooms with Acropolis view for €150.

I don;t know what the price is now but we stayed at The Plaka Hotel. Ask for a room as high up as possible away from the street. YOu will have a lovely view of the Acropolis. They have a roof top terrace. Walking around the Plaka with no need of a car isthe best.Chris

We stayed at Hotel Attalos in Athens in early September and thought it was great. Not super "fancy" but clean, quite and it offers 2 computers in a lounge with free internet access. Nice rooftop bar with great views. 1/2 block off the Plaka and a block or so away from the outdoor food market. I'd stay there again.

Attalos is a very good recommendation. It is well located but it is a budget hotel. It is substantially lower priced from your budget.
Personally we prefer to stay at a place like Attalos and spend less on accommodation and use those euros for fun things like entrance fees to antiquities or at tavernas for dining pleasure.
