Hotels in Amsterdam
I will be taking a weekend trip to amsterdam from paris during mid Febuary, I'm looking for nice hotel that is not too expensive, perhaps around 80 euros or less a night. I will be there with my girlfriend, so somewhere in the nice part of the city. This will be our first trip to Amsterdam, so we would like it to be as pleasant as possible. Thank you for the help.

Hey there, if you're going over Valentine's Day weekend you'd better reserve soon!!
With 80euros you can get a nice 2- or 3-star, check out http://www.bookings.nl/city/nl/amsterdam.html HTH! |
If you want 'nice' hotels I wouldn't consider anything lower then a 4 star rating. Their 2-3 star rated hotels are equivalent to a an upscale motel in hicksville, USA. I would best take my chances through Priceline. You can find a 4 star hotel in that budget range. However, you may have to sacrifice location in the process.

If you use priceline and choose a 4 star rating, chances are you will get either the Marriott or the Renassaince for around $80. Both have advantages and disadvantages. The Marriott is in a "nicer" part of Amsterdam - near the park, museums, etc. The biggest disavantage to the Marriott is that it is an American style hotel that caters to business types.

There's also the Le Meridien Apollo on Priceline, which is probably fine but not so well-located.

Hi - give me a family-run 3-star overlooking a canal, with decent breakfast and warm welcome over corporate facelessness . . .
