hotels in Aix-en-Provence and Nice
 

After 1 week in Paris, we are going to spend 3 days in Aix-en-Provence and 3 days in Nice at the end of June. We'd like recommendations for hotels or apartments in each place. Requirements are air conditioning, central location, and clean.

In Aix, Luxury, Villa Gallaci,
moderate, Le Manoir.
In Nice, Le Peruse.

I believe that is "La Perouse" in Nice, probably named after the French explorer.

I really liked Mas d'Entremont in Aix but it was just outside the city to the NW (on what was route N7, not sure if renumbered), so if yo uwant something in town center, that won't do. I found it convenient with a car, more than being in center would have been, as I was doing touring of the countryside.

Have stayed at these two hotels in Aix.
Saint Christophe (my favourite) and
Grand Hotel Negre Coste (didn't like it as well but has a great location)

The last time I wanted to stay at the Saint Christophe they were fully
booked so ended up at the Negre Coste, which is right on the Cours Mirabeau
and has a small front patio where you can have breakfast or just hang out.
This year I booked the Saint Christophe a long time ago so hope it is still
as nice as I remember it.It has a central location, just around the corner from
the Rotunde fountain and a few steps to the Cours Mirabeau.

To the OP, look at www.trpadvisor.com and booking.com. You get a wider point of view and can select only those hotels in your budget.

I disliked the Ste. Cristophe; we left after one night. Le Manoir refused to accept a booking in January, then was full up for our dates when I inquired in Feb.

Spa, thermal pool, almost on-site garage (if you are driving), restaurant, comfy beds, tours that pick up there and easy walk to wonderful area of Aix that most folks miss if they only see the Cours MIrabeau.

We took TGV from Paris to Avignon, local bus to Aix and taxi to hotel.
