Hotels: Has anyone stayed here?
 

I wanted to get some feedback if anyone has stayed at the following, I know this list is long. We are starting to map out or honeymoon and we are fine tuning things. Wanted to get more feedback if anyone has any.

If you are speaking of the B & B Palazzina Cesira in Montalcino, yes, we stayed there two years ago..this is a private home right in the midst of the town..rooms are simple and clean...you will love the hosts, Roberto and Lucille...they are lovely people and Roberto made us the MOST amazing breakfast......

Sandi is right. In addition, it would also help if you'd put at least the names of the cities you're interested in in your thread title - e.g., Hotels: Has anyone stayed at these hotels in Rome, Amalfi Coast, Tuscany, and Venice?

That way at least those readers with experience in these areas will know to click on your thread.

P.S. Although we've been to Rome, Amalfi Coast and Venice, we haven't stayed at any of these.

We have stayed at 4 of those, but I am always curious why people publish a list--why not ask an open question?
I trust you know that La Badia and Locanda Rosati are not in Tuscany--Orvieto is not a good base to see Tuscany. I assume you will have a car.
How did you arrive at these choices?

Since there is a list of places to choose from it seemed easiest to make a LIST. We have been doing a lot of reserach for our honeymoon and these places have been suggested to us. I do know that La Badia and Locanda Rosati are in Orvieto, it was suggested to us that coming from Amalfi by car this would be a good stopping point to spend 1 night and then continue on towards Tuscany. As much as it pains me to skip the Amalfi Coast I am thinking we should save that for another trip. Its seems like a lot of rushing around for 13 full days. If you have any thoughts on those hotels mentioned or any others I would appreciate it.

The Onda Verde and the Cesira in Montalcino are both very good choices.
Locanda Rosati is 9 km out of Orvieto but a good place to stay. But, I would spend 2 hours at Orvieto and drive on to Montalcino. Good luck !

Thank you for your response. We will be driving up from the Amalfi Coast and a friend that took their honeymoon last year suggested that we make Orvieto a stopping point because driving all the way to the Tuscan countryside is a lot further. That may have been just their opinion. I don't really want to just spend 1 night someplace?

I've stay at Ca' Gottardi (10/04) and it's a beautiful and romantic B&B. I have a full report on tripadvisor. Have you looked in to the Foscari Palace in Venice? That would be a very special honeymoon hotel (also check my tripadvisor review on this). Have fun planning!

Spent 2 week in Italy last April and loved our 3 nights at the Locanda Rosati a few miles outside of beautiful Orvieto. I would strongly recommend at least 2 nights at each location (we generally spent 3). Orvieto is a beautiful town of 6,000people built on volcanic rock with the most beautiful cathedral/facade. Be sure to sip wine at the enoteca by the cathedral and join locals,etc. for the magical early evening passegiatta (evening stroll about 5pm)down its main streets by the cathedral. Be sure to join the friendly and informative owner, Giampero, for dinner at the locanda. In Rome we stayed in the oldest part of Rome known as Trastavere and loved staying in this area-we stayed in a clean, 30 room hotel called Hotel San Francesca-in very quiet part of Trastavere and about 20 minute walk to Vatican or across bridge to Campo de Fiori (be sure to visit morning market at Campo de Fiori.Hope this helps. If you must visit Rome, I agree.

OTOH, I would fly into Naples, see the AC, rent a car and drive through Tuscany to Venice, or vice versa.

We already have our tickets into Rome and out of Venice so those parts are set in stone. The rest is still being planned. Since this is our honeymoon and we are trying to include the Amalfi Coast into the itinerary.
