Hotels for Lucerne and Vevey

I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions for hotels in Lucerne and/or Vevey. Four of us will be going in June- 2 adults in their early 60's and 2 daughters in their 20's. Thanks for your help!

The Hotel Des Alpes in Lucerne is a very nice three-star hotel located on the banks of the river.

We had a balcony overlooking the old wooden bridge and the river.

We liked the hotel and Lucerne so much that we changed our plans and stayed there two more days.

I am not sure what kind of place you are looking for?

Hostellerie De Geneve or Hotel Negociants are modest places in the heart Vevey, both rooms above restaurants.

But there are also other beautiful, fancy, expensive hotels right on the lakeshore.

In Montreux (just next to Vevey) I like the Hotel Helvetie, again I'm assuming a moderate budget.

Hotel des Alpes is nice and is in a great location.,
A lot of people on this board recommend it. I stayed there last year. You can read my trip report and see my photos at http://www.travelswithdiane.homestea...2006Page1.html
I don't know your budget -- there is another low cost option

A more upscale hotel in the center of the Altstadt in Lucerne is the Des Balances. Lovely hotel and beautiful location on the river/lake.

I've stayed in the Des Balances; great views of the river available in some rooms (with or without balcony).

Hotel restaurant was wonderful last time we ate and the staff in the hotel very accommodating. On our departure morning we needed to leave earlier than the breakfast room opened and they let us in anyway.
