Hotels for London and Paris

My husband and I are planning a trip to London and Paris in early October and need advice about reasonable accomadations. We don't need fancy--just clean and close to tube and/or sights. Also, does anyone have experience with Priceline--is it a good idea?

Hi alis,

Priceline can be a good idea, but ou must know what you are doing. See www.biddingfortravel.com.

In Paris, we always stay at the Hotel Bonaparte.

A text search here will give you other views.

Welcome to Fodors alisacham. Your questions are some of the most frequently asked here. Since you're new, you probably don't know the "tricks" to finding answers. Type Paris AND hotels in the "search this forum" box above & you'll get hundreds of previous threads asking & answering this question.

IMO, Priceline is a super idea for London but less super for Paris because the hotels they use in Paris are often the big business type places with no charm & you can find those at reasonable prices on your own. Try the hotel Bonaparte or do a search for Hotel Bonaparte AND Paris & you'll also read about other places in this category.

For London, read biddingfortravel.com and/or betterbidding.com for advice before trying PL.

Also, tripadvsior.com is a great place for reading hotel reviews & getting competitive prices. I also like jack-travel.com as a website for Paris info including hotels. Good luck.

It depends where you want to be in Paris. We stayed at the Hotel Lyon Mulhouse & enjoyed it. It was clean, comfortable rooms with nice bath & the metro was in the same block. An atm was nearby as well. Convenient to most areas for us.
