Hotels de charme - cote d'azur
 

Looking for a small coastal hotel on French medit. coast - closer to Toulon/Hyeres than Cannes/Monte Carlo (looking for authenticity, not glitz, although glitz can be fun - just not that kind of trip). Have looked at Hotel Chateau Valmer - anyone have any thoughts about this place or others in the region?

Hotel Welcome - Villefranche. not glitzy, very nice, enjoyed the views of the harbor and sitting on the balcony... many nice restaurants along the water to choose from.

Many like Hotel La Perouse in Nice. More expensive, but has a pool.

I haven't been there yet, but my fiance rented a home for a month every year in San Raphael (it is what Germans do). There are lovely hotels on the water there...

I know this because he has promised to take me there ...

An excellent hotel of much charme near St-Paul-de-Vence is Le Hameau. We love the place.
