Hotels Barcelona

We are interested in going to Regencia Colon what do you think of the neighborhood in the evening, does anyone know anything about Hotel Inglaterra. I stayed at the Condes de Barcelona and liked it very much. The women that I am travelling with want to stay in the area around the cathedral area. Also we are interested in Avenida Place. Please help.

Near the cathedral is Hotel Neri, which we enjoyed very much. If a bathtub is important to you, make sure you specify such a room.

kamkam,
As you know, the Regencia Colón is located in the Gothic Quarter, around the corner from its more elegant and expensive sister hotel, the 4 star Hotel Colón.
If you enjoyed very much the 4 star Condes de Barcelona in the Eixample district, right on the Passeig de Gracia, you will notice a decided difference in room comfort and amenities at the Regencia Colón, a classic budget rather than luxury, property.

When I travel alone in Barcelona I prefer to stay in the Left Eixample, as I feel very safe when walking around at night and don't have to add the extra layer of vigilance regarding my belongings.
The Hotel Inglaterra is located closer to the Eixample, right below, and is the less expensive sister hotel to the luxury Hotel Majestic. As a single person I have stayed around the corner from the Inglaterra, which is on Pelai, along with the new Jazz hotel. This is a very central location, just a short walk from the Plaça de Catalunya, where the Aerobus airport shuttle stops and the Bus Turistic begins.

The Inglaterra has been recently renovated and I think would afford you a greater comfort level, as a member of the Majestic group, than the Regencia Colón.

I haven't stayed at the Avenida Palace. It is located directly on the busy Gran Vía at the lower end of the Eixample, also closer to the Plaça de Catalunya and a block from the Passeig de Gracia. It's not in the Gothic Quarter.
Of the 3 hotels you mention, It would be closer in classic style, in location and probably closer in price as well to the Condes de Barcelona.

Hope this helps.
