Hotels and eats in Bath
Will be heading to bath from Cornwall in April...and want some advice about hotels and restaurants. We will not have a cr so we'd like to be centrally located - maybe rent bikes and cruise around that way. We don't want old and stodgy b&b's even though we are "young
60's! Ambiance and great food/ wine are a must. Thanks |
I stayed at the Bath House b&b three years ago and loved it. It is centrally located, I walked everywhere, and the decor was very attractive and fresh. Nothing old and stodgy about it.
They served a very good breakfast on a tray to the room in the morning. I had dinner at Jamie Oliver's Italian one night and enjoyed it. Great friendly service, lovely outdoor terrace, nice wine and the food was very good, not fantastic, but good. Overall it was a really pleasant night. |
One thing to note is that many B&Bs wont rent for 1 night in Bath over weekends (and maybe other times??) so hotels may be the way to go if you are only going to be there 1 night.

what is your budget?

Bath is lovely, and you should be fine without a car. Weekday hotel prices, i.e., Sun-Thurs, are usually cheaper than Fri and Sat. You can check traveler photos of hotels on tripadvisor to see if the decor is to your liking (also read hotel reviews). Don't know your hotel budget, but 3 to consider are:
The Henry: http://www.thehenry.com/ Three Abbey Greene (Old, but not stodgy IMO): http://www.threeabbeygreen.com/homepage,intro.htm Anabelle's Guest House: http://www.anabellesguesthouse.co.uk/tariff,intro.htm Can't help with restaurants as I tend to eat on the fly or from grocery stores. As for cycling: http://visitbath.co.uk/things-to-do/...vities/cycling |
I am watching this jerribo.
We are going from Bath to Cornwall. ;-) BTW, we are doing a self catering for a week. I noticed in my searches, thst some self caterings do other than weekly rentals. |
Love this cite. Think you all for the generous tips and suggestions. It makes travel wonderful before hitting the road:)))

Noticed that you are going to Cornwall from bath - we are doing the reverse! Haven't researched trains yet - wondering if that 's how you will traveling.?

Hi Gerribo - If you like Thai food try 'Sala Thai' on Pierrepont St. I often have lunch there when I'm in Bath ...

Gerribo, we are driving.
Great minds and all that... ;-) Steve, thanks for the Thai rec. I really like Thai food. |
