hotels

Hi,

We are looking for hotels close to major attractions in the following cities: Paris, Monte Carlo, Nice, Barcelona and Rome. We are 4 female university students who would rather stay in hotels and split the cost than stay in hostels. Any information is much appreciated...tks

First off, you'll get better responses if you put the destination cities in the title of your post.

Second, what's your budget for a hotel room?

Third, 4 people in a room in Europe is a bit of an anomaly. You may have to get two rooms. Is that a problem?

Nice and Monte Carlo are so close to each other why are you changing hotels?

If you're looking to spend little money check the Let's Go guides and Rick Steves.

It would probably be cheaper to book a hostel (quad room) than a hotel for 4 people. In Rome check convents for inexpensive lodging. But they usually have curfews.

In Paris and Rome the term "close to major attractions" could be just about any where. You need to further define your locations and budget.

I am also not clear if you mean you want a room for four people, or just that you want budget hotels and will stay two to a room. Trying to find a quad room for four adults will be very difficult.

Don't know how long you're planning to spend in each location but what about a 2 bedroom apartment?

4 girls and only 1 bathroom might make for some lost time.It would help to know your budget

Sorry about all the confusion...new at this.
We want a quad rm. and don' want to spend more than $50 p.p./p.n. As for major attractions, for ex. Rome near the Spanish Steps, Paris near Champs Elysee. Btw we have looked at hostels and they're about the same rate if we would split a quad rm.

Quad rooms are hard to come by in Europe, and it's almost unheard of to get one with four beds. If you're going to be in any of these places for at least a few nights, it would make more sense to rent an apartment. Your other choice is to get two rooms in each place, but that would be very hard for $100 per room.

Also, the Spanish Steps area of Rome is fine, but I sincerely doubt you want to be near the Champs Elysées in Paris. Not only is it an expensive area, it's also about the most boring place in the city. You'd have a much better time, as college students, in the 5ème or 6ème arrondissement.

I think it would be a whole lot easier to find a double room for $100 then a quad room for $200, just because almost all quad rooms are for parents and two smaller children, not four adults. So if you've been looking at rates for quads, you have to consider whether it is for four adults. It is true that I don't know of quads with four separate beds. Do you girls plan to sleep together? well, some do, but I just think focusing on quads is the wrong way to go.

Don't try to find a place near the Champs-Elysees, it is easy to go there to see it but it isn't the place to stay. You won't find anything there anyway like what you want.

we had a thread recently on very cheap hotels in Paris, here are a couple
http://www.commerce-paris-hotel.com/

you see, that hotel is dorm-like, and does have quads-- but look at the picture. The quad is two double beds. It is cheaper than your budget, however, but so are the twin rooms and you'll get more. It is an excellent location in the Latin Qtr.

Another good choice in the Latin Qtr
http://www.france-hotel-guide.com/h7...dredesarts.htm
Don't know what kind of beds their quads have, but bet it's two doubles. But their twins are also within your budget, just about (93 euro).

Final cheapie in the Latin Qtr
http://www.hotel-marignan.com/
Their doubles are only 80-95 euro. They do have some quads, but they are not four large beds. They are a double bed and two smaller beds for children, at least according to the photos.

If you literally mean $50 a person, that is currently around 75 euro for a double (at $100). That is barely possible, you can find some 80-90 euro as above, there are many others. I wouldn't want to bet on the odds of you finding a quad with four large beds. And a quad with two doubles is not going to be two kingsize beds, or even queensize except in the more expensive hotels. It will be two regular size double beds.

<< Btw we have looked at hostels and they're about the same rate if we would split a quad rm. >>

This says to me that you have already found quad rooms since you know that the price is about the same as a hostel. Why don't you book the quad rooms you've found for $200/night?

I agree with not staying near the Champs Elysees; I also don't think you'll find a room for 4 people for $200 per night there.
