Hotel/B&B suggestion in Venice
We, 2 couples are looking for a reasonably priced hotel/B&B in Venice, Italy. We are coming by train from Cinque Terre October 18-20th. Somewhere, under $300.00 USD per nite. We are finding everything to be sooo expensive. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We enjoyed our stay at this apartment in Venice.

We have also stayed at Al Campaniel's Holiday apartment. It is very basic but clean and well located.
Here is the website:

well Venice by its nature is expensive. You can't get around that. Also, because of its popularity and situation on the coast which has appeal to cruise ships year round, Venice has really no "down" season so that prices roll back some as in other Italian hot spots. Without a doubt, Locanda Orseolo is best recommended "locanda" in Venice. Google their website. You will be treated with personal service and attention that cannot be rivaled in Venice. It is no wonder they are the #1 rated B&B in Venice.

We enjoyed our stay at Palazzo Odoni www.palazzoodoni.com. For your dates it is 210-230 euro per nite so that will put you a little over your budget at today's exchange. But it is very nice and classy.

You could try Corte 1831.
www.corte1321.com
An apartment is a good idea if you can get one, especially one rented by a hotel (a reception desk is good when the stay is so short.)

We booked the Residenzia Cannaregio on Expedia for this summer at less than $200 a night. It is 15 minute walk from the Canal Grande and is in a very quiet area. I suspect the cost is affected by its location.
Breakfast is very good and the coffee is wonderful. There is a vaporetto stop one bridge and 200 meters away. A Vaporetto pass is essential.

Agree with rialtogrl; corte 1321 is awesome. Wife & I stayed there three days in September 2004 (when it was CA Bernardi). Still the same owners. Would recommend the Green Room. it was quite reasonable then for Venice.

Hello Laurie,
Help!!! Do you have a contact e-mail for the Corte Tiepolo apartment owner. The booking form does not want to go through, at least that's what it says, and the website does not list an email or phone number or address.
The apartment looks very nice.
Thank you,
Michele

We stayed in Residence Corte Grimani. www.cortegrimani.com. This past July.
There were 7 of us. Two different rooms.
Great location. Clean. Well kept. a/c
We liked the fact that it had a kitchen. We at least ate breakfast in every morning.
Great staff. Wonderful resource.
I would recommend it to anyone.
Enjoy. We really like Venice. Expensive but a must see in my book.

We were in Venice for 4 nights in May and stayed at Hotel Al Ponte Mocenigo, www.alpontemocenigo.com
It was comfortable, spacious and a 30 second walk to a Vaporetto stop on the grand canal. Breakfast was fine, croissants, cereal, fruit etc.
We had a vaporetto pass (very expensive!) for the first 24 hours but then we walked.

If you don't mind walking up several flight of stairs, this is a good choice, well located and pleasant. The entry courtyard is a bit off-putting as are many old buildings in Venice, but the B&B itself is very nice.

We had a wonderful stay at Pensione Accademia this August. It is a very lovely hotel with a beautiful garden, which is rare in Venice. Service was great and staff very helpful and friendly.
Have a wonderful time in Venice-it is a magical city!

Laurie!
Thank you so very very much. The apartment looks wonderful. I think they are in the process of designing a new website and everything might not be working yet...I don't know. I will email them immediately.
Again thank you,
Michele

Hi Again Laurie,
The apt owners emailed me back within two hours, said they had an opening, and wanted 50% payment by Paypal. I told them I had to set up a Paypal acct and would email them when I did. I emailed them 1 hr later and told them I set up the acct and now I haven't heard from them since. It's been 2 1/2 days.
Did you pay your deposit for the apt through Paypal also? Did it go okay? Just wondering,
Michele

Hi Michelle,
When we made a reservation with them we had to pay a 50% deposit by making a bank transfer.
It is nice to know they are now using Paypal because the bank transfer cost me $35.00.
Do you need further instructions from them in order to complete the paypal process?
Maybe they are just waiting for you to make the transaction.
Which apartment are you planning to stay in? We stayed in the Valier but we had a glimpse of the Tiepolo apartment and the view onto the Grand Canal was beautiful.
I hope you hear from them soon.
