Hotel within easy drive of Malpensa Airport

Help, please.

We are visiting Florence next week and will be driving back to Milan on Friday and Saturday. I'd like any suggestions about where to stay Saturday evening. We have a 10:40AM flight out of Malpensa so would like to be close enough to make it easily Sunday morning without traffic wories and yet be in a pleasant location Saturday evening. If this is not feasible then please suggest a decent hotel adjacent to the airport itself.

Check out Villa Malpensa which is about 10 minutes or less by taxi from Malpensa. It may be more than you want to spend (I think we paid 175 euros last October), but it is very comfortable. The service in the dining room is a tad snooty, but the dinner we had there was very good.

The other one is a 3 star for about 100E--named Hotel Cervo.

We've always stayed at the Concorde Hotel in Arona when planning to leave Milan the next morning. It's only about a 20 minute drive north of Malpensa, and it has a nice view of the lake. Makes a nice last night. And the hotel restaurant isn't bad, either. But for a real last-night treat, try the restaurant Taverna del Pittore.

There are several other hotels and restaurants in Arona. The Concorde phone number is 011-39-322-249-321. Their fax is 011-39-322-249-372.

I'm happy for the person who had a good experience at Villa Malpensa, but my experience was awful. The air conditioning didn't work, the staff was snooty, the room was the worst we had in an otherwise wonderful 3 weeks in Italy, the dinner we had in their restaurant was expensive and poor quality. I am staying somewhere else this time.

we stayed at Hotel Cervo a few years ago. Perfect location, just 5 mins. from airport. Budget hotel but very clean.

I've stayed at the Villa Malpensa twice. It is a beautiful hotel and you can't beat the location. However, the dining room staff is snooty and I darn sure wouldn't eat dinner there.

I found the front desk staff to be very friendly though.
