Hotel with A/C in Bayeux? Is it Necessary?
We are spending an overnight in Bayeux on July 23rd while exploring Normandy D Day Beaches. In searching for a hotel I see that many do not have air conditioning. Can anyone recommend one in town that does have A/C or is the temperature such that A/C is usually not needed?

Europeans would not need air conditioning there.
|
While I understand that may be so, that was not my question. Does anyone know of a hotel in Bayeux that doea have air conditioning.
|
I know it is not really an answer to your question, but the great A/C machine called the North Atlantic is just next door from Bayeux.
|
The Novotel has a/c. It's part of the Accor chain, and most Novotels have good-sized rooms.

BAB, you asked "... is the temperature such that A/C is usually not needed?"
I answered that question and gave my frame of reference. Further, the fact that Europeans would not require air conditioning means that many hoteliers would not see a great need to instal it. Now you have eliminated one alternative. From this I infer that if Europeans would not need air conditioning, then you conclude that you would. Interesting. |
There are 2 Best Western hotels in Bayeux, both very centrally located. I stayed in the cheaper one in July 2 years ago (can't remember the name now), and am pretty sure it had A/C.
If it didn't then we certainly didn't need it! |
when we visited bayeux in 2003, it was during the incredible heat wave. we did not have A/C having been told it would not be necessary. we ended up with windows wide open (no screens) and the mattresses on the floor to catch the breeze. i realize you can't depend on weather averags this far out but we were quite uncomfortable...friends had been there a few weeks earlier and wore windbreakers and long pants the entire time!
