Hotel Wawel Tourist in Krakow?

Has anyone had any experience with this hotel? Seems nice, within the old city walls with good amenities. Thanks.

We're going to Krakow in late May, I think from one of your earlier posts I saw that you were going in summer.

I debated for awhile over hotels but decided to reserve a flat, a little to the north of the center of Krakow, for about $55 US per night. I obviously won't know how it is until I get there so I don't want to post the name yet but the owner seems quite nice and has been very helpful.

If you want the name, you can email me or I can post after I return.

[email protected]

Thanks Kristi, but we have made reservations at the Hotel Jan. It's in the old city center, has nice rooms and from what I hear, a very freindly staff. We like places with a little character, which us what drew us to the Wawel, but, after reading a review by young Polish lady, it might be a bit over the top. Thanks again.

I saw good reviews posted about the Hotel Jan on the website www.hotelspoland.com and it looks like it's in a good location.

Sounds like you are planning an interesting trip!

Kristi: We are trying, but first-hand information about areas outside of Warsaw, Krakow, Zakopane, Gdansk and, maybe, Torun and Poznan is difficult to get. I have had a post about some of these remote areas in place for some time. Not much response. There are a couple of people, Peter in particular, who have been helpful. Have a great trip and write a report when you return.

I had the same problem last year when trying to plan a Turkey trip. If you haven't already, check out ThornTree on Lonely Planet's site and Virtual Tourist as the posters there seem to travel more to Eastern Europe. I got a couple of excellent tips from folks on those boards.

I'll be sure to post when I return but alas I am only visiting Krakow, Warsaw and maybe a couple of day trips from Krakow (salt mines, Auschwitz and maybe Zakopane).

If there's anything in particular you'd like to know about either, let me know and I'll try to check it out for you.
