Hotel Valadier ...Rome

Message: ok, i booked a room at this place. the Hotel Valadier http://www.hotelvaladier.it/

Seems like its a great location...its a 4* but thats to been seen. hotels can usally call themselves whatever they want. i supposedly have a room with a king size bed and another seperate section of the room has a french size sofa, that becomes a bed. is "French Size" big? got the room for 270 euros... a bit steep but the neighborhood seems good. has anyone stayed here? any comments on the location or this hotel?

Your first choice, Hotel Regno, isn't a 4 star-it's a 3 star. But I know what you mean. If you check tripadvisor.com, there are mixed comments.

I stayed there a year ago. I loved the location - 5 mins to the Spanish but in a quiet side street. The lobby and bar are attractive. There is a nice breakfast room and a good buffet. Staff were both friendly and efficient.

I booked a single room, so it was quite small but not tiny, with a queen bed, marble bathroom, sitting area with desk. The furnishings were "interesting" - very 1980s lacquered and OTT. I would have stayed there again last time I visited Rome, but have not been able to get a good rate.

regards .... Ger

Wow, thanks for the speedy replies. its cool to know a place where travelers can help each other. this whole hotel thing has been really overwhelming. so much to choose from, and every hotel has a mixed bunch of reviews...just like life i guess

We've never stayed in this hotel, but have had dinner in the restaurant several times. It is really nice, the food good, the service attentive and the ambience a little special. We stayed a block away and the location is particularly good in reference to the subway. There is a stop in the Piazza del Populo and another near the Spanish steps.

OK Spunge, how was the Valadier? I'm contemplating it also. The reviews on tripadvisor weren't very kind.

We had a wondeful time at the Valadier..our room was a nice size, the staff very helpful, we enjoyed the piano bar when we came back to the hotel after dnner ..and Diana in the breafast room was a very special lady.

some rooms are small, ours wasn't..it may be the luck of the draw. I loved the Art deco touches in the lobby and bar.

we didn't try the restauant or wine bar...maybe next time!

What a great hotel!! the staff was extremely welcoming and helpful, the piano bar was simply awesone. a great way to relax after a day of sightseeing.there is some remodeling going on to the front of the building, but dont let that stop you from staying here. the breakfast in the moring was great!!! eggs included.

i heard some people say the rooms are small, ours wasnt. we were 2 adults and 2 kids, we had 2 beds in different areas. it was a perfect set up. i dint see other rooms though.

some may think the location is a little out of the way, but i think its perfect. literally 5 mins from the spanish steps, it's right at the top of via del corso, and the picturesque piazza del popllo, close to shopping. we walked everywhere from here.
the area on this side of town is also more livlier and cleaner than the termini side of town.

i TOTALLY, WHOLE-HEARTEDLY, reccomend this place.
