Have you stayed at this hotel in Porto Santo Stefano?

I'm looking for a hotel here too. The Don Pedro in Porto Ercole is full and Il Pelicano is just too expensive for us.

Thanks, Karen. How far is the Torre di Cala Piccola from the center of town? We aren't planning to drive in Italy.

It's perhaps 10 km. or so from Porto Santo Stefano (just a guess). You can't really walk anywhere from the hotel, although walking around the grounds was lovely. Even to go to the beach, we used our van. Walking down was no problem, but walking back up the very steep and curving road was exhausting for us. The hotel does offer transportation down to the beach and back, but we just used our own for the very short ride down to the parking lot near the beach. Once down at the beach, there are showers, bathrooms, a snack bar, and a restaurant, so you don't have to keep going up and down. However, this is not the hotel for you if you want to be close enough to walk into a town.
