From reading past threads, this hotel seems to come highly recommended. Would its location makes it a bit inconvenient for a five day stay? (We will be making daytips on two of the days.)

Walking to the center of town is a pleasant 15 minute walk along canals and pleasant streets. Worth it for the pretty, and quiet, location.

Ter Duinen is an absolutely lovely, canal side hotel with a charming host and quite stunning hostess. Fifteen minute walk to the bell tower square. There is a bus stop immediately outside the hotel. A distinct advantage is that the hotel is only a short block or two from the outer canal and ring road leading to any of your day trip locations. Recommend the hotel highly; rooms are good sized, baths modern, windows triple paned to eliminate noise, breakfasts sumptuous. Marc, the proprietor should present you with a discount pass to major attractions upon your checkin.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel based on Wes' recommendations on this forum. Everything Wes posted above is true, especially the sumptious breakfasts in their beautiful breakfast room. Ask for a room overlooking the canal. Go for it.

Thank you for all your input. It sounds great, and looks very nice on their website. I should have mentioned that we won't have a car, but I guess if the bus comes right there, it won't be a problem getting to the train station.

We stayed at the Hansa Hotel in Bruges last Oct. It was fantastic. Just a couple minutes from the Market Place, a wonderful location. It was great to be able to come and go from this location. I highly urge you to check it out.
