Hotel suggestions in Paris
 

First time going to Paris. We will be there in July and haven't the slightest idea where to stay. I see a lot of people talking about the Latin Quarter. Can anyone share their favorite hotels in Paris? I'm looking to spend no more than $150.00 a night.<BR>Thanks!

There are a lot of places available for that price, but my &quot;favorite&quot; hotels cost considerably more. Sorry, I can't help.<BR>Just make sure you get airconditioning in July, unless you aren't bothered by hot and humid weather and a lot of street noise with the windows open.

LONDRES ST-HONOR&Eacute; <BR>13 rue St-Roch<BR><BR>I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in early June of 2001. I was with my Dad, niece &amp; nephew. I think I paid around 90USD a night. The hotel is listed here on Fodor's in the “rants and raves” section. <BR><BR>I thought the room was very sizeable for Paris. There was still a bit of room to move about even with the 4 twin beds. The bathroom looked newly remodeled and was very well appointed with blue &amp; white tiles. There was even a shower curtain with the tub. I didn't need A/C and don't recall if it was there or not.<BR><BR>It is an excellent location across from St Roch church. Close to metro stops, Place Vendome and the Louvre as well. Next to it is a nice bakery where I picked up pain au chocolat for breakfast. Diagonal across the street is a tabac for tissues, water bottles, newspapers and the like.<BR><BR>

Paris hotels are a lot more expensive than those in the USA. I think a/c is a must in the summer..at least for me. To get a/c, you might have to pay more than $150.00 per night. Maybe some of the chain hotels might have a good rate in August. Good luck!

The Hotel de l'Universite isn't in the Latin Quarter, but it's more or less within your price range (maybe $10-20 more), and it has air conditioning. (At least, their website says they have air conditioning; I stayed there in February, so I can't personally vouch for it.) It's in the 7th, not far from the Musee d'Orsay and an easy walk to the Blvd St-Germain.

Hotel Residence Monge in Latin Quarter, close to 2 metro stops and a market street. Very clean, good bed, good bathroom and remote contol air conditioning. Small rooms and small elevator. Ask for room overlooking the garden. They have a minibar also. www.hotelresidencemonge.com Well within your budget, about 100 euro per night. When someone on theis board recommended it to me I thought it was too good to be true, but it is very nice. Will have third visit there soon.

We have stayed 3 times at Grand Hotel Jeanne d'Arc. The Marais area is great. The cost for a double per night is around$75.00. They are clean and small.<BR>Not a big tourist hotel.
