Hotel suggestion for Munich Germany

We will be arriving in Munick by train May 30 and staying for four days. We will not have a car. Suggestions for a two or three star hotel for under 100E a night?

Hi R,
Oddly enough the hotel Uhland has 3* and rooms for under $100..
We stayed there a few years ago, and liked it very much. They had a very nice bkfst buffet.

http://www.hotel-uhland.de/enwelcome.html

I have to second the Hotel Uhland. I've stayed there twice and found the staff to be very nice. Also I always felt like the housekeepers were taking care of me--I would wash my clothes or socks and when I got home, they would have hung my stuff in a better place for optimal drying.

The Hotel Acanthus was 95 Euros for a double this Sept. Depending on how the currency exchange goes, it may be in your budget. They do have a web site and are within walking distance to many sites.

Another vote for the Hotel Uhland. It's a short three walk block to the Hofbahnhof (sp) where you can catch the subway to the city center. I had great service there. They let me check in and get into my room early (around 11:00 a.m.) and they provided inexpensive internet service and a nice breakfast buffet. I thought it was a good value.
Oops! I mean three block walk....

Two years ago I stayed at the Hotel Bristol. Very nice hotel, nice part of town, a really good value just a few minutes walk to the Marienplatz area. CNN tv, great buffet breakfast included. I paid $48 for a single. Doubles were about $60. Below is a website with nice pictures of the hotel, breakfast room, guest rooms etc. As this site is a booking agent I would call the hotel direct for best prices. I will stay here again.

To call from USA 011 49 89 548 222 0
Fax: 011 49 89 59 14 51

Website: http://www.abaka.com/Germany/Bristol/

Enjoy Munich, a great city.
Larry J

There is also an Intercity Hotel right at the Hauptbahnhof. It may be over your price range during the week, but it may be worth a check if you are there on a weekend. It's just a "regular" hotel--no charm, etc. But it can't be beat for convenience to transportation.

You might also just check the rates at the Munich Marriott. They sometimes run good specials. We stayed there for $85US a night. It is not in city center but just a short U-bahn ride away from a station just a block away from the hotel. Nice typical Marriott in a nice quiet area. Good little bakery on the corner just down from the hotel to get breakfast items and avoid the over-priced hotel breakfast. Worth a look unless you must be in city center. Look on the Marriott web page for rates.

Check out Priceline for Munich. One of the hotels they use is the Marriott. Go to www.biddingfortravel.com and scroll down to Europe hotels. You'll find the successful bids of other travelers to Munich. Study the BFT site for help on how to bid. The moderators will help you construct your bid, if you ask. Let us know how it turns out.

My favorite hotel in Munich is the Hotel Advokat. It is located right off the city center and central to walk to many of the sights. The hotel is very sleek and modern and well designed. It has an incredible breakfast in a bright dining room. The price is included in the room rate. It is fairly new so the rooms are clean and modern and not too small. I don't think this place has air conditioning but it shouldn't be that hot at the end of May. The website is--

http://www.hotel-advokat.de/

I also think there is a small hotel called the Opera which is right in the center of the city.

http://www.hotel-opera.de/

Check my websight for more things about Munich. I listed a few really great restaurants.

http://home.earthlink.net/~richardab
