Hotel Stay in Paris
 

Hi again, was hoping to find more help on a hotel choice, i will be arriving at Paris Gare Du I'est on the DeBahn from Germany, with my lugguage. can anyone suggest a hotel, preferably near that station so that i don't have to pull my lugguage thru Paris City and the busy Metro network. my budget is about 200 Euros a night. Thanks in advance

There's a Campanille very close by on rue Lafayette. A friend has stayed there several times and a French friend has an apartment a few steps away, from the hotel, so I've walked past it. Happy Travels!

Oh, it's Campanille-Louis Blanc as it's near the Louis Blanc metro right up from the train station. Happy Travels!

Actually, that hotel is called the
Campanile Gare du Nord on its web site. I looked it up, and it is a 2* and costs less than €100. I have no experience with the hotel, but you might try Trip Advisor for a review. http://www.tripadvisor.com

It gets mixed reviews, and ranks #861 out of 1,924 hotels in Paris.

You could perhaps do better.

where could i go and stay? near a central metro station, easy to get to Champs Elysees.

The price you can get will really vary depending what night you want.

But try www.accorhotels.com . There are several hotels near Gare du L'Est.

ok i found that there a hotel available still for 2 nights stay and its €406 at the Mecure Paris Terminus Nord, and a Libertel Hotel €300 for 2 nights also anyone can comment whether it is worth to pay the extra €50 per night?

As you probably know, those are both chain hotels and the price difference reflects which is slightly more upscale.

I wouldn't pay the extra 50 euros for the Mercure but have a close look at what's included at each hotel on their web sites--there may be something you want at one that's not available at the other.

I would spring for a taxi over to the 4th, 5th or 6th arr and lower my per night budget to 175-180 euros to reflect the cost of the taxi. IMO you'll have more fun in those areas where there are many hotels in that price range.

Here is a new or refurbished hotel about 400m walk from Gare de l'Est; comments on TA are mostly positive. Rooms are under 150€

Nukesafe- The friend who stayed there has stayed at many Campanilles, for years, and has been totally pleased with them.

And true, it's a 2-star, but since the original poster stated that he/she has 200Euros to spend, I interpreted that to mean that 200 Euros was the budget max. Also, it's good to have several hotels, in mind, not knowing what might be booked. Happy Travels!

Mavric, just get a taxi at the Gare de l'Est. Then you can stay anywhere you want. If you can afford 200 euros per night, you can afford a taxi.

When we traveled in our younger days, we traveled cheaply and always took public transportation. In our "mature" years, we take the occasional taxi. It can be very convenient, very pleasant and even save money if you consider your vacation time as money.

I agree with Mimar. Why worry about spending 10-15 Euros on a taxi when you can afford 200 Euros per night at a hotel.

such a wonderful option this will broaden my hotel search and not constraint me to 1 place, should've thought about it earlier.

Hi Mav,

We always stay at the Hotel Bonaparte, 61 Rue Bonaparte in the 6th. From 131E dbl w/bkfst. It is just around the corner from Place St. Sulpice, near 3 metro stops and 4 bus routes. Has AC and an elevator.

The staff speaks English well, and is very helpful.

Plug in Paris and your dates... for a 2 night stay one of the things it came up with for $149 (USD not Euros) in the Gare du Nord Republique area was a 4 star...

"Our 4-star hotels include:
InterContinental, Hyatt, Omni, and other prestigious hotels..."

You don't find out which hotel until you book but your star level hopefully keeps you out of a dump!

Mavric- I have two whole threads on hotels in Paris. One is "Paris Left Bank Hotels" and the other is "Paris Right Bank Hotels".

If you scroll down the section listing the first 50 threads, then you will see the two hotel threads there.

We have some excellent choices listed there. I personally prefer the "left bank" where I've stayed for over 30 years. Happy Travels!
