Have you had any luck getting a room at Albergo del Sole? We called them for a room in early April and they said that they were full - the the language barrier on the phone was huge and I wonder if that were true. We were also interested in the hotel Smeralda but could never find an email or phone number for it. Did you have better luck?

The Albergo del Sole al Pantheon is expensive but worth it if you consider its central location (you save a lot by not having to take taxis from less centrally located hotels to the major sights). It is directly on the Piazza della Rotonda - very historic, rooms are not large by US standards but they are very comfortable, staff is nice - I'd stay again.
Tiffany,
I called the people at Hotel Smeraldo and was told that they were expecting a group for the 4th of June but it hadnt been confirmed and to call back. I did and found out they would bo full on that night. They gave me the name and number of the "Sole". I e-mailed them and then called them. I first got a guy that couldn't speak English and when he went to get someone who did we got cut off. The next morning I called again and had no language problem. They had a room available and the arrangements were made.
The phone# for the Hotel Smeraldo is 011-39-06-687-5929. Their fax is
011-39-06-688-05495.
Rosemary
