Lucca--Palazzo Alexander

Siena--Duomo

Our stay in the Duomo was in 199, so this is not esactly up-to-date advice.

We stayed at Palazzo Alexander last year, so I feel confident in recommending it.

Lucca: Albergo San Martino. An easy walk from the train station, but well within the wall. About 100 euros. Quiet, very nicely redone rooms.

We second the recommendation of Albergo San Martino in Lucca. Inside the walls, convenient to railroad station and a very short walk to the walls or the center. Hotel was very confortable and the staff wonderful.

Another vote for Piccolo Pucinni in Lucca. just across from Pucinni's birthplace. Great location and really nice staff. Very reasonable.

Actually, the composer's name is Puccini, NOT Pucinnni...

I second the recommendation for the Palazzo Ravizza in Siena. Ask for a room with a view of the garden.

And a third recommendation for Albergo San Martino in Lucca. Great staff, really wonderful people. Clean, clean, clean. Good location, free bicycles for guests (IMO, a must in Lucca) and there was free parking in 2001, which I can't speak for now.

Siena: Palazzo Ravizza, Room 1 overlooking the back garden and hills was wonderful.

Lucca: Palazzo Alexander, they have rooms at all rates with a great location and wonderful service.
